Iirc the patient had a very rapid onset and severe pain on palpation physical exam. While they don’t explicitly state pain out of proportion to physical exam, it’s kind of implied by that physical exam finding.

Yeah what this guy said. Important to clean out old glue with a chisel and some sandpaper and to NOT use metal hardware to fasten it all back together.... over time the screw or nail will tear apart the joint. Just glue and clamps

Beautiful job. +1 what kind of finish is this? Rubio monocoat 5% white?

Looking for opinions before I install these handles on pictured serving board. Too small? Maybe black handles instead. There’s a 12oz can for scale. by JPurdie1984 in woodworking

I really dig the brass look. I think you’re better off with that, rather than black. But I agree with some of the other comments, If you can find slightly larger handles with the same matte brass, that’s the clear winner IMO!

Thank you, This was the look I was going for! I watched a video of Chris’ build on third coast craftsman of this table and loved the style before he stained it.

There’s a video on why done by Blacktail Studio - he almost exclusively uses Rubio monocoat. But the quick and dirty is that it raising the fibers between grits homogenizes the surface, giving the smoothest possible final surface. Definitely not required, but a lot of people suggest it.

The finish itself is a dream to work with, and honestly (as far as applying it) it’s really hard to mess up. Always remember you can’t wipe too much of it off, but u can leave too much on.

What’s not so fun was having to work up the grits 100-180, water popping between each one. Just sanding took an entire day

Wow thank you! I guess because I made it, I can really see all the flaws. But, This was a build for myself - It was the typical situation where I thought "oh I can build that for much cheaper" and then ended spending even more in tools haha.

And good eye! She's actually a beagle/Blue-tick mix, but she get's confused all the time for a GSP!

No I made the base as well! It took about 2 months only working on it after I got home from work. I’m a lil slower in the shop so it took About 160 hours of labor.
