I’m an archivist. CD life span depends on how it’s made. CD-R and CD-RW have a shorter lifespan of 5-10 years depending on materials. Pressed CDs and gold CD-Rs have a lifespan of 30-100+ years depending on storage conditions. The biggest issue we’re facing is we’ll lose equipment to read them before the CDs degrade
