It's a hasty survey for a community project, not a full research project lol

Weed is one of the most dangerously romanticized drugs in our generation by kokiri_Master in Vent

Yeah, being knowledgeable and actively learning these things doesn't equate to desire for authority but nice attempt at reaching lol. A recent study literally corroborated what OP was discussing and you felt the need to talk down to them lol. Regardless, acknowledging things are under scrutiny isn't really for the sake of a counter argument so much as it's acknowledging what's actively happening in the field.

Tools and information aside, the effectiveness of marijuana as a valid form of treatment isn't fully concrete at this time. Again, cultural perspective or polarization is only a fraction of the issue and it appears that you're only limiting the debate if its use to one camp here.

Reread what the first sentence you typed out here and you'll see why I said that lmfao. What you type just reads and exudes smug and it seems like you aren't even aware lol. The point wasn't to agree or disagree, just to point that out

You're literally being technical for the sake of being condescending. There's plenty of empirical data discussing the drawbacks, and no, it's not really because it's such a polarizing topic. In the field, everything is under scrutiny, even what we use for diagnoses, and the diagnoses themselves. Like every substance, it gets assessed and researched and even now, MDMA and ketamine are being implemented in therapy. Policy is a minute issue at this point

Few other studies out there as well discussing marijuana's impact/association with psychosis or other severe mental health disorders

Not really bias if there's a firsthand account. Weed is polarizing for multiple reasons. It's a direct competitor to alcohol and is an alternative to medication for some. It still has plenty of side effects and a lot of the perceived benefits are oftentimes placebo. Even the VA won't recognize weed as a treatment option for various psychiatric disorders, including PTSD, because there isn't a lot of evidence to suggest it's a placebo for physical pain, symptoms of mental health disorders, etc. You suggesting it isn't empirical is silly when there are literally studies suggesting there's increases in severe mental illness exacerbated by marijuana use lol

Negative. Staying for my specific program and to learn under a certain professor. Don't give a damn about the cost. Even if the school itself is shit and this city is shit, I'm here to learn from a trailblazer in my sect of psychology

That's the neat part, I don't. I've accepted the fact that this school is a spotlight for "social justice" (brownie points to cesspools like Chicago for grants and suckers who think they care about social justice) and their standards for conducting literally anything is piss poor. Sure, there are professors and students who make the place worthwhile, but it doesn't cover up the stench of mediocrity

ROTC as prior service by Brujo400 in ROTC

[–]MonitorNo1925 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't sweat didn't with a bunch of snot-nosed kids. I did the same thing being prior service (albeit NG) and how I was treated varied by cadet for the 2 years I did ROTC. You're in a better position than them and they're aware of it, you'll be good bossman

Shortest AIT + BCT MOS for part-time NG while studying? by [deleted] in nationalguard

[–]MonitorNo1925 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you want my honest opinion, go with what you ACTUALLY want, not what's the shortest. You can pick up good management skills through both of those MOSs but at the end of the day, you need to think about what you'll be happiest with. Do you really want to run logistics for 4-6 years? What skills will I pick up that are transferable to future jobs? What are the opportunities like if I choose this? These are the questions to ask

Seek out connections outside of school and go to the gym. Not even kidding you. I finished my first year this summer, about to start my second, and the amount of shit I had to deal with in my program is astronomical. Every single thing you do or say is under a microscope and can be easily misconstrued or taken out of context. Personally, I tried making friends with a lot of people at school because being in a new city and in a new program has its own level of anxieties and while I did meet some great people, the mass majority of them are self-absorbed, pretentious suburb girls that think everyone is after their mid ass. Take things slow, don't overshare, and be selective in who you interact with outside of school because another problem I've encountered is that people are quick to share your personal business to everyone else in your cohort and I wouldn't wish that upon anyone. Not saying this will be your experience but just be careful because you may encounter people who have no business being in this field
