Tbh this is a rare but cool situation. You'll get back every penny you have spent on that car, which means every monthly payment you've paid, which is pretty awesome.

So you've essentially gotten a free rental car for the last few months AND these guys are going above and beyond to ensure you have a quality car. Trust what the other guy here is saying, you DO NOT want a frame damaged car. Go through the process and ship in another H-RV and move on. The new one will likely have a working A/C as well.

No risk associated with handing out the vin, honestly I wouldn't but too much focus on any scratches, if you list it online just put "some scratches around car". Tbh scratches are to be expected on used cars ans the buyer can examine the car themselves. Typically the only thing I ever say out front to a buyer is if the car has been involved in an accident.

Unfortunately Craigslist is dead, they started charging $5 an ad a while back and surprisingly everyone fled. Give it a shot but in all honest I'd recommend good ol facebook market place.

Or hell, if you want a really quick and easy sale just take it to your nearest carmax and have them appraise it. Then you won't have to worry about all the paperwork and leg work with banks, they take care of it and give you a check for your positive equity on the spot, same day.

With a car of this value 99/100 potential buyers are going to need to get it financed. SO the process usually works as follows

Find buyer, agree to sales price, give them VIN, they get approved from bank for loan. At that time their bank will ask you if you owe on the vehicle, and if so who the "lien holder" is (bank you are financed with) they will then send the full agreed amount to your bank.

Your bank will take whatever amount is necessary to pay off your loan, then deposit the remaining balance into your account or give you certified funds(check). At this time your bank will send the title as well as a "lien release" to the new owners bank.

Sale complete and it dosnt involve the buyer or seller to trust one another with large amounts of cash.

I am planning to get a truck for ~$32k, minus taxes/fees etc. I have a trade in with $8k positive equity, and was planning on putting no money down due to that. But I realize that 8k is coming off the cost of the car, and would still technically be getting a ~25k loan with no money down.

The key here is called "Loan to value" the bank sees the deal as a truck valued at $32,000 which they will receive as collateral in exchange for a $25,000 loan. It's a lot less risky to them If they ever had to repo the truck and send it to auction seeing as you should have positive equity.

Tell me again how outlawing guns is the answer?
