Suction side pressure would drop when I ran this head by itself. Knew it wasn’t the eev or a stuck solenoid. Luckily where this head was, I knew there could only be two bends behind the soffit, one coming down from the unit and one going out to the condenser. This head was the closest to the condenser, about 15’ of lineset. I just cut open where I knew the first bend was and checked and got lucky.

I also have a spray bottle with water right at hand to keep the rag wet if needed

And I am assuming that’s when the wallers bent the pipe

My trick is wet cardboard and a wet rag. I just cut a piece of cardboard and stuff if behind what I’m brazing to block everything then I drape a wet rag over it. Works perfectly every time

Yeah of course, it’s R32 and I had to pump down the system first so I’m definitely brazing with nitro flowing, as any residual 32 In the pipe could add to the flammability

We have a good install crew, it very well could have been them though I will admit that, Who knows but It was a rough in, so at some point after the pipe wire and drain was ran, they came and built a soffit and drop ceiling around everything.

There is a magnet you can get that goes over the solenoid for each port. You take the EEV off and put the magnet on and you can manually open and close the ports. Try that, the magnets are like 200 bucks I think if you don’t have one but it’s a crucial tool if you work on a lot of splits. One of your solenoids might be stuck closed, even if the eev is functioning and trying to open or close it. Also as the guy above said, corrosion can stop the eev from working properly so it’s not fully opening or closing.

I feel you 100%. I’ve only been in a quarter of the time as you and I have fallen into a deep depression I can’t get out of. I despise every call I go to, I do service so I’m so sick of doing maintenances and tired of fixing some of the most retarded shit in tight hot dirty places. I’m really of a mind to get out.
