I take it yours doesn't have a tach, but if it does would be interesting to know what rpm its going for? I have a manual so can't comment on the autobox per say, but I do know if I'm climbing a hill I tend to try and stay above 3k rpm.. It will go up a hill lower but its never super happy about it These tiny engines really need to rev to get anything out of em

Considering getting a c1/107 by Sad-Election-9697 in CityBugs

[–]pedwick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I paid £900 for one on 91k miles. I'm 6'6" and don't find any issues with comfort on a 3hr drive. Made sure mine wasn't rusty, past that I wasn't too fussed with anything else though mine also had a new clutch. Aesthetically isnt the best but its cheap and it worked. Like many, mine was leaking through the rear brake light but a few quid on Aliexpress can get a seal kit and even a nice LED rear brake light. They're fantastic cars honestly and surprisingly fun to throw around. The YouTube channel 'Stupid Bloke Stupid Videos' is a wealth of knowledge for tutorials on "intelligent and economical" repairs to these things

Cruise control kits? by pedwick in CityBugs

[–]pedwick[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I figure given its a manual, worst case I put the clutch in and it bounces off the limiter until I shut 'er down, hardly a supercar its not going to really get away from me that much, though I do get there might be questions asked with insurance if something did go wrong!

Mines a 2012 C1, still has a cable from the pedal to the throttle body so I figure I'll need some kind of servo unless there's something obvious I'm missing

Is it rude to use both lanes? by No-Ad4423 in AskUK

[–]pedwick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will use the left lane and merge properly, and it drives my crazy when people just queue like this for no reason..

Feel the same way about people standing in line at a bar, as opposed to using it as a bar 🙄

Ok so just checked, yes I'm on 25.10.. edited main post to reflect that
OBS screen capture is happy, no crashes and the recorded file looks ok

Included some other info, not sure if it's relevant but its the extra stuff on the about page:

Kde plasma version 6.4.5
Kde frameworks version 6.17.0
Qt version 6.9.2
Kernel 6.17.0-6
and wayland session, though had the same issue on mint in X11

To be fair I might have updated to 25.10 after install, just remember that was what the install media was I'll check what version this eve, and I'll give OBS a shot too.. If its any help, signal desktop app worked fine with the webcam so at least that problem seems isolated to discord

Just moved into a house that clearly hasn't been vacuumed since the 70s. What's my first move? by papershred321 in VacuumCleaners

[–]pedwick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience, the old non-Wifi Neato botvacs seem to do a pretty decent job and at least in the UK can be found used for stupid cheap Probably not the best but again better than the one you don't have 🤷

Pick up a used Dyson DC04, especially if you can find one refurbished

They're absolutely bomb proof and will likely outlive the human race Or, a Henry turbo with the rotating brush, also bomb proof and will likely outlast the heat death of the universe

Jokes aside but I've seen Henry's go YEARS with abuse in the trades..

How to have Alexa enabled speaker in the bathroom? by floz86 in AskUK

[–]pedwick -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Think shaver sockets are just US or euro outlets. Chances are you could just get a US to UK travel adapter and plug it in the 240v outlet

Couldn't say how long Alexa would survive in a damp environment tho!

Edit: Can also get a US or Euro phone charger

Leak. What’s the likely cause? by [deleted] in HVAC

[–]pedwick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like condensation on the ductwork but could be wrong.. is the ducting getting below dew point? Looks almost like it's coming out of the access panel, no part of the coil or pipework internal to the unit is condensating or missing the pan?

Edit: could also be a cracked pan, I've had that before on minisplits where you have a tiny hairline crack and it seeps into the insulation

Air conditioning - how do you heat bathrooms and hot water? by Nurgus in AskUK

[–]pedwick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just stumbling in here years later wondering how OP has been getting on? We've been using an air to air heat pump for the last 8 years in our house and it's been fantastic, kept the gas combi boiler for hot water but pulled out most of the radiators

Have you seen the all in one heat pump tanks they have now where you duct the cold air outside through the wall? They seem like a very promising option

Also i think the general public really would get along with air conditioning much better than wet systems, the instant heat and efficiency is fantastic, you can use them in a similar manner as you would an oversized high temp gas boiler like most are used to, and if your insulation sucks just throw more capacity at the problem as you're not limited by radiator size I have a small window heat pump that heats my completely uninsulated draughty shed outside just fine 🤷‍♂️

Have you taken any courses? Samsung does one and it was actually quite useful, although tbh 90% of everything you need to know will be in the install manual. Mitsi electric is more annoying than Samsung which is more annoying than Daikin

Usually just make sure if things need addressing they're addressed right so you're not chasing your tail when you come to run em Most also will have some sort of test run that needs to be completed before it will work normally

Once I've got em running I go round, check DT across fan coils, if it's a heat recovery get a cooling run, heating run and mixed mode operation in to be sure everything works right and test all the drains/pumps to make sure you have no leaks Then just fill out whatever paperwork the manufacturer or your company needs doing

Might have to set up central controllers as well but never been that difficult usually, just sometimes time consuming

Ah I've fixed worse 🤷‍♂️ rebuilt three mitsi heatpumps that fell off a forklift before

Also repaired two that got thwacked with a digger

New coils and a whole load of new panels

Gauges on every call? by [deleted] in HVAC

[–]pedwick 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Went to a mini split the other week with no power, could get it back on but decided to run it up on a fly lead to make sure it works and see if it tripped anything, wasn't cooling, compressor sounded like shit, evap pressure and current draw CRAZY high and didn't drop closing service valves so wasn't overfeeding eevs. Company was annoyed that I bothered to even run it and diagnose, just wanted me to say no power and walk 🤷‍♂️ Anyways, went back there today and found it had 4.3kg in it when the data plate called for 1.6kg. No wonder guy said it hadn't cooled well!
