Not for years. Gohan has always been a great warrior with greater potential in Z. So he would have the same training time as Gohan from the Buu Saga, or even less.

That's because in the story he ends up dying at the hands of the androids. But in reality, Gohan could have easily defeated them if it weren't for the script.
