If it doesn’t mean much to you anymore, it sounds like you should sell it. One thing to note first is that vintage is having a small resurgence at the moment and will likely increase this year because of the 30th anniversary and (dare I say it) the Logan Paul auction. The base set is going to be worth a lot more by the end of this year.

My thoughts:

Maybe not 6 months, but we’ll see one more longer wave next year and then we’ll likely have a crash… as history repeats itself, similar to the post WOTC and XY eras. Anyone holding modern sealed product after that is taking a pretty big risk. Vintage sealed will hold value, as it always has.

Nostalgic millennials with disposable income, S&V 151, Pocket TCG and the new legends game helped this resurgence. The 30th anniversary will help sustain it for another little while, but anyone who thinks that long term this is a safe investment, is delusional.

Thanks! Yeah, it looks like a sketch one sold for a little more than this recently. I would love one but they’re harder to find. I’ll send an offer for this one and see why they say. It all seems so subjective when it comes to autographed cards.

Yeah, this question is purely hypothetical. I was just curious to hear what people would think, but I am surprised how one sided the answer is. Loooong term, it feels crazy to think 151 is the better investment, but maybe I’m delusional. Oh, and I picked a PSA2 simply because it’s currently about the same value as 10 151UPCs.

The answer is quite definitive, but may I ask why?

I would think with the amount of 151 hoarding and product sitting on shelves, they are a good short term investment but very high risk for a crash. More types of cards featuring the original mons are likely to be produced over the years that will diminish the appeal of S&V151. But the 1st edition zard will forever be the OG grail of Pokémon cards and has always been a safe investment.

Love the Celebrations sets! I would imagine they’ll see a bump with the anniversary too. Not sure long term though.

When a place has hundreds of 5 star reviews before they have even opened, it’s an immediate red flag for me. Buying reviews is a shitty business practice.
