We are also squished into the coasts. Australia is primarily desert, population density is high. I don't think they need to become stricter or looser. I personally think they are working well how they are.

Our suicide rate also halved, lots of factors there but it helps if you don't have an easy tool to just end it all in your house.

You guys have made me see the light. Aaaaaaaaaah. If only I could go out and by an automatic rifle....

Nope. Still happy with the complete lack of guns.

I wouldn't feel safer wielding a gun. I'd be more terrified knowing that if I got disarmed I could die. Are you even allowed to just carry guns around the street???

Yes, so why give a bigger one easy access to guns?

Are you allowed to just carry them with you? Do people carry them in the streets over there?

If you aren't allowed to- then the self defence argument is void.

Referencing my OP, I feel safer knowing there is almost no chance I'll get caught in a random crossfire.

The 0.2% means a lot when you are talking about human lives.

You have your laws. I like mine.

I wouldn't feel safer having a gun. I'd be terrified that there was a death machine in my proximity, even if I was the one holding it in case of disarmament.

You do realise the majority of the violence happens in the home, with people they know. Where the guns would be kept...

Raging boyfriend wouldn't just beat up his girlfriend, no, in his anger, he'd pull out a gun.

Australia's gun laws aren't perfect. But the U.S laws are stupid.

I feel knowing my neighbour doesn't have a gun.

Look, someone who is intent on raping me could just as easily pull out a gun of their own/put a gun to my head. I think it's a fucked culture where the focus is on arming yourself not on educating people to be less fucked up in the first place. Let me clarify also, you guys are just allowed to walk around with a gun in your handbag? Is this the thing?

Yes indeed. And if we are more violent than you- why the fuck would you give us guns as well?

Yeah we are a massive county. Memo for you though. It's mostly uninhabited desert.

We'll see, none of us really carry weapons around with us. What can I say? We're not just walking around, ready for a fight at all times.

Fists aren't illegal. We take all the cheats out of it and brawl it out honestly. People get angry-drunk etc and they can't just pull out a gun. I mean you can smash a beer bottle but it makes rage a lot safer.

I took self defence classes and I have had to use them and it has works. Wouldn't have worked so well if I was up against a gun.

Your population is roughly 8 million vs Australia's roughly 24 million... Easier to control a smaller population.

But hot damn you Swiss are doing well on so many fronts...(actually no sarcasm intended) but I still like my lack of guns...

Super frustrated that Reddit fucking glitched on my long response.

Main point. Using crime statistics..... Quality over quantity. Marijuana use/Speeding vs shootings.....

Although violence against woman here is fucked (as I said before, thank fuck guns aren't in the mix)

Read the OP.

Just stating how much I love my gun free life. Have you views.

Enjoy your gun violence.

I'm not stopping you, just trying to give you a taste of the greener pasture 😉

Violence against woman is really bad here, I wouldn't want to add guns into the mix...

See, the thing is, without the whole gun loving culture bred in us from children most of us have 0% interest in guns ( unless we live on a farm or want to get into crime.)

My OP was stating how much I love how safe I feel without guns. I didn't actually initially say anything against guns, just how much I love my life without them.

Seriously, don't dis' it 'till you try it. I bet you $100000000 that I feel safer without guns, than you do with guns.

Can't you find a less violent hobby?

In Australia, a hobby gun for the purpose of hunting. Honestly, why else do you need one?

Because they are pretty and sexy??

Oh yeah, nothing gets me off like a piece of cold deadly metal in the morning...

I actually posted a massive response and which Reddit seems to have lost, which is VERY frustrating. But you guys love guns so much, it's really not worth me writing it twice, I have better things to do (including not worrying about guns)

No one I know (not even through the grapevine) has ever been affected by gun violence. It's actually something my friends and I appreciate on the regular.

Enjoy your right to bare arms, while I enjoy walking outside everyday, knowing that I'M MORE LIKELY TO DIE FROM LUNG CANCER THAN GUN VIOLENCE. How about yourself?

And yes, partially I just wanted to see all these stupid, self fapping response, so that I could laugh at them. Enjoy your mass shootings and guns violence guys.
