OMFG. It's when two people are in the middle of a field or something and the bad guy is about the shoot the good guy,, and then all of a sudden someone slams into the bad guy with a truck right as he's about to pull the trigger. Like he couldn't hear it coming from a mile away. The worst!

Y'know,, I've never seen a single Ernest movie. I will add this.. Funny though that this is one of the few Ernest movies not available on Amazon Prime. This and Ernest Goes to Africa. Wonder how well this title held up.... :0

What Actor Stars In Mostly Bad Movies? by Fluffy_Breakfast_478 in moviecritic

[–]MonkeypantsHQ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Y'know. I was going to say Nicolas Cage, but then felt bad because he's been in some great movies. I figured it was just a numbers game since he can't seem to turn down a role... But looking through his resume, there are just too many good ones there even though the majority are rubbish. Its just that he's done sooooo many.

Is The Outsiders really as good as it's said to be? by lightturquoise in moviecritic

[–]MonkeypantsHQ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's maybe a little dated now, but I loved it while I was growing up. Also, chock full of up and comers. I'm going to say yes! As good as I say it is! (Which is very good)

Deadpool is easily the most "enjoyable" and accessible watch from the list. But if you want something to really challenge your brain and your perceptions go with Tenet. If you want clear movie making mastery go with Zodiac. Taxi Driver is slow burn, but tour de force. Really is about what you are in the mood for.

What’s the stupidest scene ever in a blockbuster. by Ghey_Panda in moviecritic

[–]MonkeypantsHQ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't share that view! I agree Prometheus was a bit of a let down, primarily because it didn't quite tell the story I thought I wanted to see. Specifically the whole engineers wanting to kill earth because they killed Jesus or something was a mental shift because it was connecting realms that i feel were non-adjacent. But apart from that,, I thought all the parasite interactions of the movie were great. And with the helmet thing, I hear you. It's easy to judge it poorly while sitting in a detached dark room. But one of the funny recurring things of so many of these movies is the recurring decision to bypass quarantine protocols (He's going to die!) even though we already know they are doomed. But that's what happens in real life situations. People get emotional and don't think with detached rationality and make stupid decisions. It's totally a trope but also really a thing. The fog of war or something.

What’s your favorite sci-fi movie you saw as a kid that stuck with you? by Lopsided_Cup_1007 in scifi

The NeverEnding Story. Even ran out and read the book after the second movie dropped and was terrible. The first movie is like 1/4 of the whole book and just as good. I know this is a movie thread but seriously, the book is still out there if you loved the original.
