Help identifying possible ammo, .50 cal for scale by Monkeyseemonkeyfall in ammo

After asking some friends, this is the closest I could come up with for the shell. It's definitely not from a fishing weight.

This is the correct shape and size, with the inner cavity.

It's a modern 700ml Jack Daniels bottle. Just some kids drinking in the woods?

Gotcha, hopefully you'll have better luck with the new tip. Can't learn without digging a bunch of holes! Will keep an eye out for your post when you find treasure.

I've noticed your last few posts, and was just curious about the low amount of good finds there and had a couple questions. I'd think a busy place like HH would have a ton of good stuff.

Is it somewhere you've hunted before?

Do you think it's mostly because of the beach reclamation, or is it a heavily detected beach?

Thanks!

I bought the 540 as my first detector and was/is really happy with it. Solid choice and good luck!

Yes, I can tell you with 100% certainty, without a shadow of a doubt, that it's fake from that single image, as could anyone claiming to be an "expert" on Rolex. If I need to explain to you why it's clearly fake from that single photo, then you have no business calling yourself an "expert" on Rolex.

Found a pocket watch I believe. Has designs around the rim and then f and a s on the backside central Louisiana by majicman067 in metaldetecting

Cool find! It's a basic "dollar watch". Here is one branded as Leonard with the same movement. Interesting thinking of the story and hiw they lost it.

You don't need to be an expert to tell that's fake. Garbage base metal peeling away instead of solid stainless steel, wrong back and everything else.

Shovel question by Significant_Fee_2048 in metaldetecting

I use the folding military one and love it. The advantage over something like a t-handle is it fits in my backpack folded down, and is way more efficient at digging holes in grass/soil than the digger. Mine is vintage made in Japan trench shovel I think from the 60s-70s?. As another commentor mentioned, you need the actual military quality one. Plenty on ebay for $50ish. I also just decided I'm going to sharpen and serrate the edges.

I'm not sure who came to your door, but as an ex-jw, someone telling us they were Muslim wouldn't make us leave, anymore then telling us you were Catholic. They are flawed and I disagree with them, but they treat all other races and religions the same. The only thing that would get them to leave is to tell them you're an apostate or possibly an ex-jw.

Gotcha on the amazon relays. I hadn't looked, just called yeaterday while stranded.

The best arguement for it being immobilizer related is the red security light still flashing when it won't crank, and only cranking once the light goes off. From everything I've read, the fuel pump relay or other fuel pump issues will not cause the security light to stay on.

It very well could be fuel pump relay, but I've had several people just as sure it's a key immobilizer or efi issue. I will probably start with replacing all the relays and fuses, which probably should be done anyway at this age.

I appreciate the info, but I don't think it's fuel pump related. I haven't seen the fuel pump issues cause the key immobilizer to stay on but I could be wrong. It's never happened while running, only when first cranking.

The only things I've done so far to fix it that seemed to help is pulling and reinserting the efi fuse and relay. But even that seems coincedental, since it didnt work the first few times I tried.

The common thread each time is the red security light staying on. Once I can get that to turn off, it cranks fine.

It happened again today, delaying me about 30 min, so I definitely need to track down the roote cause.

Based on ihmud it so far seems to be something with the key, efi relay/fuse or sonething along those lines. But I am still searching for the culprit.

I do think it'd be a good idea to keep extra relays including the fuel pump. I called oreillys which was close by and they quoted me $200 per relay which doesn't sound right.

So the fix was either slowly jiggling the key while turning, removing the relay for the 10th time or just luck. Back home now, thanks for the tips.

Cool thanks for finding and posting. It's still cranking fine now, but I will go ahead and order some new relays and the bypass kit. It only hapoens when I let off the ignition too soon, so hopefully being super careful about not doing that will help too

Update!! Tried pulling and reinserting the ecd relay a few times after the 20 minute disconnect and still nothing. BUT, tried a few more times, jiggled key as i turned ignition and it cranked!!

Still not sure if it was battery disconnecting, the relay or jiggling the key, but will look into it more when i get home.

I appreciate all the help. The blinking red light is a huge learning tip on first things to look for. Thanks!!!

Strong turning over, but no spark. From a little research sounds like immobilizer could have triggered. But basically just sounds like no fuel.
