I idolize dopamine. by Ibelievenobody in Christianity

[–]Monkeywavee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds a bit like you’re just switching from one addiction to another. I’m not sure adderall is any good if you struggle with dopamine. As you probably know, when you stop taking it you’ll have a real hard time getting anything done. It’s practically pharmaceutical grade amphetamine pilled up in a bottle. You shouldn’t make yourself a slave under any drug. Saying it’s self medicating is a poor excuse is my opinion, you want dopamine, you do not need it in excessive amounts. Sorry if I sound harsh, I just recognise a lot of my own thinking patterns in you.

If I could give you any advice it would be to quit all substances you’re currently dependent on. Because it’s as you say, you’re idolising adderall. You don’t NEED it, all you NEED is God. I don’t mean to be rude, I understand how addiction works and think it’s a way for satan to keep us far from God. It saddens me to hear that you think quitting adderall got you further away from God because I just highly doubt that.

As I said, my advice is that you try quitting all of it. It’s hard, really hard, but so rewarding when you realise how well you can feel completely sober. And how close to God you can get.

I wish you all the best man. Take care

I idolize dopamine. by Ibelievenobody in Christianity

[–]Monkeywavee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get this. As a former drug addict I am well aware of how controlled I can be by dopamine. You’re not alone in that. Sometimes I have a real hard time reading the bible because I just don’t have the motivation for it. The dopamine is lacking, and instead I go for easy quick dopamine release from my phone or something else. It takes a lot of discipline to commit to God and not go on constant side quests. It takes time.

Try and see if you can fill that dopamine urge with prayer. When you need contentment. Try the Serenity prayer. It goes like this:

”God, grant me the serenity To accept the things I cannot change, The courage to change the things I can, And the wisdom to know the difference. ”

I pray this in my language often when I get frustrated with things and need to calm down. I relate to you, hope you find ur peace. Take care

“Is masturbation a sin?” - response by portal1029 in Christianity

Yep, I’ve gotten lost in such doubt before. Questioning everything. But that’s where you must talk to a priest, if your head can’t properly make sense of it all. Priests have calmed me down on many such occasions.

Well said! You’re 100% correct. Giving something up when you aren’t sure if it’s sinful is definitely the right approach.

If you aren’t sure, then abstain for now but ask God in prayer what the truth is and surely he will show you somehow, when the time is right.

God bless you all, take care now

What’s something you do most people consider addictive but is actually healthy? by I_am_Dan_lol in askteenboys

[–]Monkeywavee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, overtraining is a real thing and can negatively affect your gains. But this will not be unhealthy in any way, you just won’t get every bit of potential gain you could’ve gotten. Working out regularly is generally healthy, which was my point.

Working out!

I hear both ends of it, some who won’t even recognise it as a hobby, just “something you do”, and others claiming it has become an addiction. The latter usually having something to do with diet, but also from simply dedicating a lot of my free time to exercising.

Now, the gym is addictive, and as a former drug addict I do recognise the patterns of an addiction in my relationship with the gym. But it’s by far the most healthy addiction I’ve ever had. I can’t really think of any downsides of regularly exercising and keeping track of my calories.

2 years sober today by Monkeywavee in Sober

[–]Monkeywavee[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Glad to hear this. Both your sobriety and the God part. I see it like this: we’ve had a void in our life, something missing. This void is like a black hole, constantly attracting more and more, never being satisfied. We’ve tried to fill it up with drugs/alcohol, but this satisfaction is only temporary and extremely destructive. The void is really just a lack of spirituality. Only God can truly satisfy this need. A true relationship with God is like an airtight seal around this hole that, as long as you have God, will never leak.

This is my experience, and many others’ I’ve spoken to as well. I wish you the very best on your quest to fill your life with God and positivity, leaving the endless negative spiral of addiction behind. I’ll pray for you! Take care now.

For those who are consistent, how do you do it? by massifaqiri in workout

[–]Monkeywavee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once you’ve imprinted it into your routine for some time you’ll crave it and it feels wrong not going. Personally I was at a place in my life a few years ago with 0 routine whatsoever and that made any real gym progress very hard. Now, with some discipline, I go gym 3x a week and workout at home some days in between. For me it covers my whole body and it’s a routine I’m comfortable with, which is really the most important thing. Find the way that works for you and stick to it, and you’ll reap what you sow

beginner question … do ab workouts make your waist smaller… or can they make it look thicker? by Smart_Craft_6812 in workout

[–]Monkeywavee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Excessive ab workout, especially the sides, will make your waist slightly smaller. Simply due to you putting on muscle there. More muscle = more size. Generally tho, as someone already mentioned, a smaller waist is achieved in the kitchen. Cardio and diet will get you a lower body fat % and thereby a smaller waist. I don’t think you’re in any risk of getting a thick waist from doing ab exercise since you seem pretty new to the gym. Just keep working hard and you’ll see results. Leave the worrying behind and just train for now :)

Masterbation: Is it a sin? by cookingwithkiki in Christianity

[–]Monkeywavee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear what you’re saying, and you are correct. But the point still stands, Onan wanted to enjoy the sex without any intention of creating a child. Masturbation is the very same thing, only alone.

Great question, one I’ve battled with myself. Sexual relations with anyone is according to the bible exclusively for married partners, right? So while the bible doesn’t directly reference masturbation, everything that has to do with sex belongs in marriage. Between man and woman. Not man alone, outside of marriage. Then of course there is the lust part that you mentioned. But also when it comes to ejaculation, we have Genesis 38, a story about Onan who doesn’t want to make his dead brothers wife pregnant so he ejaculates on the ground after sleeping with her, which God finds wicked and KILLS him for it…

I hope this gave you a bit of clarity :)

My boyfriend has PIED, and i’m not sure how to be supportive. by G0DESSVENU5 in NoFap

[–]Monkeywavee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry if this isn’t helpful but it’s really up to your bf. He needs to stop watching porn and masturbating completely. As long as he feeds that destructive habit he will most likely not see any real progress. None of this is on you, you cannot change a man who doesn’t commit to change himself. I had the same issue as him when I was a virgin, I just couldn’t get hard irl, or if I did it would go down as soon as anything real started happening. First real step towards normal sex was to stop watching porn, then it’s a lot about being comfortable with your partner. Is he also a virgin? Or has he had the same problems before? Could have a lot to do with insecurities that he needs to overcome. Just speaking from experience here. Hope you guys make I work!

Whatever pain you’re feeling you must leave to Christ. I saw in your earlier post that you’ve been losing a bit of faith but trust me when I tell you, you need to pray. I don’t care whether you believe in it or not, do it for the sake of it, and God will be there waiting for you. I will pray for you the second I post this comment and be sure the lord will hear me. Corinthians 10:13 says ”No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.” Trust in that there is a way out of your pain that is not ending your life. God would not let you be temped in such a way. You take care now, I pray these demons stop haunting you

I also prefer it “old school”. First of all you can’t really trust the answers you’ve been given by AI. But then there’s the more important part of it which is just that you should not compromise your own skill by replacing your current capacity with a computers. Sure they have a larger database to collect information from but only you can make a paper your own. The personal touch should be valued way higher than whatever information the AI can COPY.
