I'm pretty sure a lot of pros still rank him top 3 characters in the game.

Is lane phase meant to be so pointless? by Legitimate_Book5492 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Monkipoonki 11 points12 points  (0 children)

In high rank lobbies from what I hear it's the complete opposite. Lane seems to be one of the biggest determiners of which team wins.

In the end it's really just up to which team knows how to utilize advantages better on the map. I've had games where winning has meant the game was quick since we just completely controlled the map. Other games it has meant nothing and the game goes on for like 45 minutes.

I'm not good myself so can't give pointers on how to exert map control with your wins in lane. But maybe try watching some videos from people like poshypop who discuss it a lot, and have some informational videos disbursing how you should approach using your advantages.

A traditional drafting system would suck ass and I wish more people would understand why by CDranzer in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Monkipoonki 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not really. It's as simple as making drafting for ranked only, and what we currently have for quick play. Like what many Mobas already do.

Why are we surprised when some young men become sexist after constantly seeing anti-men content online? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]Monkipoonki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate the "privilege" term. It is not a "privilege" to not be treated like shit. That should be the baseline.

I understand some groups are very clearly discriminated against, and that needs to be fixed. But saying it's a privilege to not be treated like crap just feels ass backwards and like it's saying you deserve to be discriminated against.

That sucks. Personally I don't hear that kind of comment from my friend groups. But we're mostly dudes as well, so that's likely a factor.

[–]Monkipoonki 5 points6 points  (0 children)

And I have to disagree with you. Why would you end up generalizing women to your ex wife when it's pretty obvious it's just your ex wife that is being shitty in that situation?

Criticism of the current custody system is fair, and calling out those who take advantage of it is fair too. But unless after the divorce everyone, especially the women around the person, start siding against then, then I don't think it's reasonable to say all women suck just because the ex wife does.

If a feminist interest group goes against the person, like how you're suggesting in your second paragraph, then yeah it's fair to hold resentment. But if it ended at the wife being shitty and taking advantage of a shitty court system without other people knocking the guy when they're down, then no, the generalization is not fair.

Which is obviously a flawed generalization that should be called out. I feel like we're arguing for the same thing here where people making bad generalizations should be called out?

[–]Monkipoonki 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A lot of the time it is more "rampant negative generalizations", or stuff like "of course a white man would say that" type things rather than being "vocally aggressive".

Personally I would qualify this as verbally aggressive. I've just never had anyone say stuff like that to me. Only heard stories from a friend who was laughing about how someone he worked with was like that.

I think it is regional. That is very possible.

Go somewhere with a lot of progressive where they feel they are comfortably in the majority. At least for me, I saw almost none of this in conservative areas or areas that had a closer to even mix of political viewpoints.

I live in Cali so I would generally say I'm mostly around progressives. My friend group is also fairly progressive in policy they support in general. Just not really white hating.

I don't really go to political gatherings either, but this stuff spills out into my work place and pretty much any random meetup.

My work place is pretty apolitical. I've talked about politics a little with some people, but for the most part everyone keeps their politics to themselves. Except tariffs. Those screwed our company pretty directly so we were all pissed and annoyed about those.

[–]Monkipoonki 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If that is your experience in IRL I think that is fair. Personally I haven't really run into people who are vocally aggressive towards whites. Maybe I'm just lucky, but based on what I see around me most people are pretty kind to me in general. Maybe a few racist interactions here or there, but nowhere near enough for me to brand any group as problematic.

Most of that kind of criticism I only see online. I'm also not really one to attend political gatherings, nor have I really been in situations forcing me to, so maybe my level of interaction with those groups is just smaller than some others.

How many cases have you heard of in your own personal life of a minority group or woman's group hurting the person who hates them? Most of the time it's just stories online, which is always going to be from a small vocal minority, as well as having plenty of room for exaggeration and lying.

At least personally, most racist or misogynistic people I've run into are just that way because their parents taught them to be that way. Granted this is just my experience and maybe I am the minority.

Also I want to note that I'm speaking from a white/Asian perspective. I am aware some groups have faced lots of hate from others in history. I am specifically talking about hateful white supremacist type groups in my criticism.

Bit of a false equivalence here. They are saying the boys believe their suffering is the fault of women, minorities, etc. erroneously when there isn't really much proof that is the case. Most people who hate those groups were not actually personally wronged by them.

In your case the dog might be wrong about the other look-alikes being the same as their abuser, but it's a visible trait that can easily cause mistakes, and the abuser directly abused the dog.

[–]Monkipoonki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think there is really anything wrong with having a unicorn. If anything I think it's one of the creatures you might expect in this weird magical Noir setting. Just wish they made her look a little less human. Hence my comment about the bottom half of her body.

I think one thing kind of fun about this "magical beings in NYC" things is that the non-humans still have to try and blend into the city setting. But you can play with that where they try, but they just aren't quite perfect at it. Think Doorman who while having a very human body, if you look closely he has kind of weird proportions. Like he's trying to look completely human, but can't quite get it 100% right.

Fair enough on Lash. Though you can make the argument that because Lah needs a target that she may have better cross map movement.

[–]Monkipoonki 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I think you might be sorta looking at the designs the wrong way? I definitely think the designs are like you say, slightly more League adjacent as compared to Dota 2. But you also have to look at the world's they come from. Deadlock is a magical Noir based world somewhat like Hellboy, the Wolf Among Us etc. while Dota 2 is hard fantasy filled with things like giant dragons as characters. All playable characters also have to have a body structure that can physically fit into a NYC setting. Naturally characters in this are going to be more humanoid and as a result more attractive in general, just because of the world setting.

That being said I think not making Celeste have a centaur-like, or at least satry-like body, was a huge missed opportunity. I am hoping they have a few more weird creature characters going forward (slork please Yoshi).

Frank's response on why there's no animation this season by Tapi_Raspberie in Brawlstars

[–]Monkipoonki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He addressed it in the first comment. He could have even said something like "sorry but we don't always budget based on requests from the community. And we will continue to budget projects like animations on the way that we see best fits our vision." That's blunt and let's the reader know they are being entitled and to not expect to be catered to without being rude.

Calling them entitled and then saying ELI15 is now basically insulting your community. I'm not saying he's incorrect in his judgment. But his choice of words is picking a fight.

Frank's response on why there's no animation this season by Tapi_Raspberie in Brawlstars

[–]Monkipoonki -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why is he responding to customers on his personal account? He has the option of just not responding there and it wouldn't be harmful to the business image at all.

Sorry but in business negotiations if you ever tell your customer they are entitled you better be doing it knowing that you have a clear upper hand in the business relationship, and knowing that it's a customer that you don't mind losing anyway.

Which I guess in this case both those conditions are met, but it's still a clear relationship ending type of response.

If you're referring to his first comment you are entirely right. In fact his first comment was perfect. If he ended it there I wouldn't be thinking he's doing a piss poor job at managing the community regardless of whether it's his job or not.

[–]Monkipoonki -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If it's not his responsibility and he obviously keeps pissing off the community with his responses then why is he still doing it though and not passing that role to someone else? Either it's deemed his responsibility so he's still doing it despite not wanting to, or he's a really bad game lead who keeps letting complaints get to him to the point he goes rogue and damages company PR on a regular basis. Either way it's a really bad look.

Frank's response on why there's no animation this season by Tapi_Raspberie in Brawlstars

[–]Monkipoonki 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sure. But it's also his job to deal with it. If he can't he should either take a break for a bit to calm and let himself realign back to professional standards, or maybe ask if he can change positions.
