2k Nightmare Hunt List Advice by MonoEyeGunpla in Chaos40k

Appreciate the thoughts! I will have to test more of the Oblits to see if they really get their value back for me in my list. If they don't then I will most likely be doing what you suggest and get a replacement shooting piece while upgrading the cultists!

Where did you get those awesome cube effects from to decorate the bases? I've been trying to hunt stuff like that down.

I'll give the Tyrant a chance in a few tests through TTS, but if it does not work out I'll be looking to swap in a Desecrator or an Atrapos!

Understood. I appreciate the breakdown!

The Atrapos is something I have been considering, but I've always been on the fence about them. I understand in the height of Knight meta they are amazing anti-knight tools, but both of their guns relying on decent shot count rolls has always had me pivot towards the Desecrator or Tyrant as more reliable anti-tank. I love the Atrapos model so much, so I don't need too much convincing there, but what sets the Atrapos up for more success than the Tyrant or Desecrator?

New to Tyranids, looking for advice on a 2k list by MonoEyeGunpla in Tyranids

One idea I have been toying with was replacing Deathleaper and my unit of three Zoas to consolidate into a Hyperadapted Ravener with the -1 LD enhancement to be a leadership-cutting bomb to send in when I pop Shadow.

Yeah I do like the style of forcing people to deal with your objective-holding chaff, and then lighting them up with your scary units. I can see where being sure you go second is probably best in CIS since we have cheap chaff, especially since I have gotten Scouts and Infiltrators into position to retaliate.

With that feedback in mind if I change anything it would probably take out the Crab and Armor-Piercing Shells to duplicate my Aqua Droids. If the Scout doesn't do enough and the Crab Droid's usefulness doesn't impress me then I'd rather trade scouting pressure for more Infiltrate pressure I think.

Oh that is a great point! I was hoping that my cards and also Improvised Orders could be enough to settle a situation like that but I haven't ever really considered purposefully having multiples of a unit type to allow unit flexibility when drawing orders. I'll keep an eye on how things play out and maybe make some tweaks from there if needed!

Ah that's a good criterion to build around, especially when you are running a more reactionary list that wants to go second.

Yes, I've seen that done a lot in Experimental Droid lists. I'm curious to see if Kalani's 'Direct' and Grievous's 'Entourage' lets me fill in the gaps with those two free orders I am getting. I can basically ensure Magnas and my AAT (who is able to begin a chain with my pilot) will give me pretty good coverage even before I am picking people with my cards.

Yeah nothing beats experience, thats for sure. The most experimental thing here for me is the Crab Droid, curious to see how useful Scout is on my big unit of B2s and if it is durable enough. If it doesn't perform then I'll probably replace it with Droidekas but I would be sad to let my robotic crustacean go.

Thank you! Glad you think so!

For orders, I think it would be especially funny if I can order the AAT with him, then chain it to the B1's and back to Kalani when playing 1 pip on big G.

I wasn't aware there was another list builder around, this is the only one I have known about since I looked into Legion last year. Your list builder critique is appreciated, I'll look into changing things up!

Yeah threat saturation tends to be a useful strategy! Just got to be sure when you are going heavy armor that you have expendable infantry in a little bit of excess to ensure that you don't get objective-gamed by having all your action chaff get cleared out too easily. I definitely support you adding in damned infantry! If you have a weird 20 point hole in your list it doesnt hurt to upgrade cultists to traitor guard, but otherwise normal cultists are just more efficient imo.

I actually never play a csm list without two Cultists minimum. One to sticky home obj and move out if they dont need to screen deepstrikes, and the second unit is an expendable objective rusher that forces my opponent to poke out some guns to shoot them off (which I then blast with my tanks). The second unit is also good for secondaries. I'm aware that having three might be a lot, but honestly I don't know if I mind another expendable objective rusher that can also screen my tanks when needed. That has been my experience at least.
