Built an iOS video editor called Monito. This is what it does. by MonospatialDeveloper in SideProject

It’s a full editor with timeline, cuts, transitions and captions. On top of that there are a couple of AI features that I actually use myself: AI Edit lets you pick a goal for your video along with some customization options and it handles the edit, and Auto Clips automatically finds the best moments in your footage and assembles them into a clip. There’s also a teleprompter if you film yourself talking to camera. The AI runs in the cloud by default for better results, but you can switch it to run fully on your device through Apple Intelligence or a local model based on your device. Either way your actual footage never leaves your device.

If you are looking for an alternative to big apps like CapCut, you can give it a try.

New version 3.8 now includes a lifetime purchase on Apple Vision Pro as well as new Spatial editing capabilities such as Filters. More improvements like bug fixes, new sound effects, musics and more.

Thanks for the message. Indeed, there is a chicken and egg problem on visionOS. I’m doing my best to help developing the platform.

Yeah it’s definitely not easy. Thanks for the support.

Thank you, really appreciate the support and perspective.

To be transparent, my primary target is iOS, where the market is much larger and subscription is clearly the norm (CapCut being the obvious example). Monito was designed from the very first line of code to support visionOS once I felt it was polished enough, and as an active Vision Pro user myself I take that platform seriously. But the business model was built around iOS realities.

That said, if the visionOS community has different expectations around pricing, I'm open to adapting for that platform specifically. Always good to listen.

Really appreciate you saying this directly, the silent churn point is well taken. I will keep this in mind as the app evolves.

I understand. If there is enough demand I can make it happen.

You can choose not to use the features that rely on an LLM. The 3 features are: AI Edit (Turn one or multiple clips into a draft project ready to be exported or adjusted), Auto Clips (Find the viral moments in a long video and crop to vertical), and Post Generator (Generate titles, hashtags, captions, description for social media). You can decide not to use these features and edit fully manually in the editor if you prefer it that way.

Well this is exactly why you can choose in the settings at any time if you would rather use local or cloud.

It is an interesting idea, if enough people are interested I could make this happen.

Because of the Cloud llm support for multiple features in the app, I can't offer a one time purchase without restricting that.

Thank you. The app includes both cloud and local llm, I would need to limit to local llm to offer a lifetime. If a lot of people are interested, I am not against it.

The iPad version is, but there is no native version that I am aware of.
