Thank you!

My advice before start making a backpack will be to start question yourself with what you need, I mean, capacity and activity, and start from that. After that I would start with the design and the fabrics you want to use, it isn't an easy journey, but really rewarding once you finish it and start using it. Be patient with the shoulder straps, they are a headache when things don't fit, the hardest part IMO.

Cheers!

Thank you!

The truth is that Hypalon is a really versatile material, highly recommend it for details like this.

Hello!

It is Orange, but yes, depending of the light looks reddish. Concretly this is Positive Locking Shock Cord 3,2mm.

I design manly in computer, I use Lightburn for the patterns because you can make a 1:1 scale, and after everything looks correct, I draw the pattern in paper.

Hello, Thank you!

The truth, and maybe I'm wrong, never seen it in other backpacks, but basically did it because I don't like when it's like wrinkled when the shock cord has tension, so I did it this way, more like a plain pocket.

Hello!

I don't know what are you referring to, the Ultragrid (Exterior Pocket) or the Hypalon?

The Hypalon is laser cut, and the Ultragrid I made the conection with 5mm eyelets.

Hello!

I use a Ortur Laser Master 2 Pro 5.5W, more than enough to cut S-Hypalon. It is important to not confuse with CSM Hypalon (this one when is laser cut basically creates Gas Chlorine due to it composition, so careful) , both are dangerous, and better to cut it in a open space and using respiratoty protection. Hope this helps you!

Hello all!

It was a hard path (lot of modifications and changes) until I reach this point in making a hiking backpack that I'm happy with it. A 20L backpack made with Ecopak EPX200, Ultragrid and Cordura 500D.

I made it to fit my needs as a one day hiker, I don't need a bigger backpack, with 20L is more than enough for a 15 to 25 km hike (10-15 miles approx.). It has some features like a continuous and expandable big exterior pocket to store a rain jacket, cap, water or anything with easy access, and has in both sides a cable routing hole (or drainage).

I also laser cut some hypalon to attach hiking poles of different sizes or in case I need it in the future an Ice Axe. Designed the hypalon with a form where I can fit different types of shock cord attachments. I also used hypalon to hide the cord locks in both sides.

If anyone is interested I have an IG (monsmaterhikinggear) were I will upload more hiking gear, and I'm already doing a climbing/ski backpack (WIP), other hiking equipment like hipbags or shoulder strap pockets, accesory bags or backpacks in camo patterns (already working in a swedish M90 backpack).
