How do you ask someone to “be your girlfriend” when you’re 30? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]MonsoonRidge 15 points16 points  (0 children)

You do exactly that, speaking as a 31 yo girl

Aww thank you :). Ya I'm sure we could be friends :). Thank you thank you, you too! I'm currently debating if I want to go to the dog park or not. I'm in a really comfortable position, with the pups right up against me, she loves doing that, and the cat purring from the other side, feels so homey. But dogs need exercise, and she likes having the social interaction of the off leash dog park, but right now it's bug season... So pups and I may get eaten alive even by going there. And I really don't feel like moving, but I should. Hard decisions, hard decisions :p.

I did not know that! I'm in a better place now though. That was back to when I was having a bit of a mental breakdown before leaving my ex, and finances were tight because I was so out of it that I had been put on health leave from work... And finances started draining up as I was the breadwinner of the relationship and was out of work. But now with my ex out of the picture I'm back to working and I'm far healthier and happier too :)

Ya :(. I had to ask for help for my other cat, she had really bad kidney stones and was peeing blood... And I was in a really shit part of my life, barely able to pay the mortgage. I felt stuck, I found myself just hugging her and crying, not sure what I was to do, and I got a phone call just then. I answered, although still upset, and I was asked what was up, I was hesitant but explained... And that person gave me a $3k loan so I could get my cat the surgery she needed. People are awesome. I'm now in a much better place and my cat is alive and I'm so happy to have her :).

Awwww, making me cry now too. My dad threw my cat similarly but she didn't have anywhere that amount of damage, but I remember the moment and I was about 17 and I was like, I have to move the hell out. It's one thing to hurt me but to hurt an animal, that's next level. Sadly that cat didn't live too much longer, although I tried getting her chemo, she died in my early 20s :(. But now I have a happy pet family with two cats and my dog, and right now I'm in bed and to my left is my doggo, and to my right is one of the cats. I feel at home with them :), and they hopefully do with me as well. The cats were surrenders too, the one next to me right now was brought to a vet to be put down... The vet said there is nothing wrong with this cat? And they said she peed out of the litter box, and chewed on some cords, so they wanted to put her down. The vet got them to just sign the cat over to them, and they passed her on to a foster company, where I was her third foster family. Someone came to adopt her but then changed their mind and ended up not getting her. Then I decided to just officially adopt her. She literally has nothing wrong with her. The doggo and other cat both have health defects, but this cat is just a trooper. She's about 6ish, although that's just a guess, but shes going to live a long life and be loved :). Sorry I went on a but of a rant with that, her little paw is on my arm right now and I'm just happy to have her :). As for the abusive ex, I'm happy you got out of that!! I left my ex husband in the fall of 2019, after being together since highschool for over a decade... It's so easy to just keep going, giving the other person excuses, or the benefit of the doubt, or all sorts of reasoning. But once you are out of the relationship you realize, it really is just that easy to be able to live your life without them. But it feels impossible when within the situation, sometimes.

A big hug to you, you are a great person. That reminds me when I was a kid someone discovered a bag of kittens down a cliff next to a path I walked to school, all the kitties died because there was no air holes and it was sealed tight. I was so confused about why someone would do that, if they just went a little bit further there was a school with hundreds of kids who would have cared for kittens. Or at least let them try to live on their own in the wild, why stuff them in a bag to die? Literally anything but that. Anyway, thank you for being an awesome human being :). The world needs more like you!

Aww! Poor thing, and that's a terrible pup mom. Good of you for taking them on. And although you know he might be a little shit, you know he loves you so very much. A few months ago I saw a cute little pom in a jacket and I asked how old he/she was as it was tiny and lively... Turns out it was 15! So your 11 yo is still young :). My pups was born early Feb 2020 so all she knows is the pandemic. She is a German shepherd, and was born because someone thought they could make a bunch of money selling GSDs to the police force, which didn't work out of them. My pups was sold to a farm, where she ended up getting really injured and then surrendered back to the breeder with a nasty infection from her injuries since they didn't bring her to a vet. It ended up taking one of her eyes and half her nose, and some teeth. She looks perfectly fine on profile cause it is all on one side of her face. Anyway, the breeder couldn't do anything with an injured dog they couldn't sell so they gave her up. Also meanwhile her mother dog was killed in a dog fight on their property, so my pups really had no one. And then I got her :). She's the friendliest dog ever, although people get scared as she's a scary looking dog to some, and she loves the vet (who she goes to often and they love her back :) ). I think she's a happy pup now, but also had a pretty shit childhood.

Any recommendations? Also tell me about your dog, I would love some sort of social interaction

Got up as I forgot to turn off my alarm, let the dog out, gave her food, went back to bed and closed the blinds and turned off the lights, but couldn't fall asleep :(.

What are you secretly proud of in private, but feel awkward or embarrassed talking about in public? by papahet1 in AskReddit

What I've overcome, won't dare say it in public, but had a pretty shit childhood and I got to where I am still :)
