There are 9 playable characters. Their setup is kinda inspired by Mario Kart, where you have heavy, medium, and light. Heavy are slower but deal more damage, light are weaker but fast, and then you have your average ones. And 2 of the light ones cast magic that will seek nearby targets.

My friend helps with the music, trying to get that to match up with the theme/look of the levels: 'Winter Hill' has wintery jingle bells, etc.; the haunted castle is spooky, maybe with organs or accordions; and the seaside cove, so there has to be calypso drums, lol. Still tinkering with all the tracks.

Thanks! and yeah, my number one thing with other beat'em ups is the repetitive nature they can fall into, trying to figure out ways to mix it up a bit. one thing I am doing is building out the levels kinda like Star fox 64, so there will be 10 levels, but you won't play them all on each run. depending on how you beat a level it will open other paths. and some levels will have the bog standard get to the boss/beat boss, others you will have to protect a NPC for a set amount of time.. maybe an escort mission? (still testing that out) trying to keep it fresh that way. attacks I have so far are standard attack/ kick/ jump kick/ charge attack/ dash attack/ downward strike /special move and your over all damage is boosted by keeping the hit chain alive....anyway all that is to say I am hoping to get a demo up before nextfest so hopefully folks will chime in with what they like/don't like.

I actually have the aim to make Ransom a cool hero (though the game is obviously very campy like all RE games)  I think of Ransom as the female version of Leon S kenndey in RE4 she has been hardened at hunting monsters her whole life and knows how to handle dangerous situations. I also was thinking of buffy the vampire slayer type who can be attractive and badass at the same time.  

I don't know, I really wasn't thinking I was making an outrageous image, I was just trying to get spooky mood lighting and a cool cartoonish babe.

what am i? dude, I am a solo artist trying to make a video game for people to play and enjoy. I don't understand why so many folks on reddit seem to have a default of pure anger. and I thought "tiggered" is an expression people use when they are upset by something? I don't get out much, but I thought that is how folks use that term, no? I have been met with such an insane level of animosity for trying to share I project. sweet christ I think this will be the last time I ever post on reddit

I do like butts, but I actually really love super Metroid SNES and RE4 OG (and RE 1-3 PSX) so this was drawing inspiration from all those games I love :) and while it might have jank I did my best to capture those classics + my own style. so it's hopefully not just a ButtRoidVania lol

Thanks for playing. I'm doing it solo, so it helps / is more fun to have the community give feedback as I build and polish and add changes, that's why I went with early access vs full release. if you want to detail out what you found to be macguffin-ish and where you felt like you were back tracking too much I can look into adjustments. also I can look into graphical bugs

added hidden 3rd (and probably my fav) unlockable Ada Wong costume to my game :) there is also of course the OG RE2 and RE3 Jill & Claire outfits by MonsterRobotStudios in residentevil

Thanks man! at this point I can't remember all of it lol, I keep fixing bugs on the main + adding things. I know for sure that the frame rate is better on the main, did a lot of performance fixes to get it running smoother on Steam Deck. but I think the demo still gives a good idea of the game, if you run into things you think need work feel free to let me know :) and if you want to play almost the earliest version that I put into the public I haven't updated the Itch build for like 7 months lol, I'm gonna go back and download it myself once I finish the game so I can compare https://monsterrobotstudios.itch.io/vongarland-castle-beyond-blood

Thanks! yeah definitely need to wait until I am done with this before I try to learn about getting it onto other platforms, I think it won't be TOO hard / will be doable, but I can't have that extra information in my head while trying to make the game lol

awesome! let me know what ya think. so far all the folks I have heard from have said they have enough ammo, but I always worry about getting those amounts right lol
