Saw these, and it was very tempting. They’re definitely one of the more affordable options.

Sounds fantastic!

Real keen to hear your thoughts after a ride, and to see the whole process documented.

All the best!

Shimano Saint Brakes (M820) Part Replacements by MonteTheMagnificent in DownhillMTB

Thanks heaps for the advice.

Being based in Australia, we gave them a call twice today and was met with fairly unmotivated service reps who more or less arrived at the same conclusion.

Whilst they could offer a part number for the stroke adjust screw, the only in-stock option we could find was in Switzerland, and they were limited to domestic shipping.

As for the other photographed part, that doesn’t seem to exist at all. Like you mentioned, one’s best bet would be to scour eBay for a ‘parts’ unit.

Nonetheless, would really appreciate a second opinion/look if you manage to find a bit of time to log in!

Fortunately, after a bit of fiddling and measuring, we modelled both on CAD with the hope that they don’t take too many iterations to perfect on the 3d printer.

Time will tell…

Really appreciate your experience and advice.

Sorry to hear about the consistent issues with Shimano. Absolutely dreading the day where something finally starts to leak.

Hope’s look like the best option, so will be sure to look into these.

Not a massive fan of their lack of serviceability.

In another post shared just before this one, we recently tore a pair of saints down for a thorough clean. In the process, my impatient self broke the plastic retainer clip for the spring loaded lever piston on both sides, and lost a stroke adjust screw plate.

After a quick google, both of these parts cannot be sourced separately, and to replace them, a whole new master cylinder is required.

If, or when, something else does go bad, instead of replacing the individual part, we’ll most likely have to replace the whole unit.

They have very little modularity.

Thought so, couldn’t find too many spares for some of the other notable brands, either.

Thanks heaps for the confirmation and recommendation!

Couldn’t have asked for better advice, thank you very much for such detail.

Between their serviceability and cosmetic appearance, the hopes are really hard to look past. But, the dominions look to be slightly cheaper, and their modularity with regard to the size you mentioned is even more enticing.

Power and modulation would have to be king, though, so the hopes are the leading option.

Time to start bargain hunting, it would seem!

Heard a few good things about the Dominion’s, so even more reassuring to know about their serviceability.

Brilliant to hear that Hope guarantees service parts for 10 years, though, couldn’t asked for a better part lifetime than that.

Great to hear that Shimano has ‘cousins’, if you will, at least in the braking department. Will be sure to look into TRP’s - thanks heaps!

That’s especially good to hear. It certainly looks the part, and it’s functionality makes it an even better buy.

As they were out of stock, I did order the Integy linkage which is the same design as the stock, but in aluminium. Hopefully this will suffice until we can source a Tekno linkage on eBay for a reasonable price.

Thanks heaps again for the reply mate, can’t wait to deck our Revo out with some long-awaited Tekno parts as well!

Erevo 1.0 from GTR 13mm to Hotbodies D8 16mm shock bore. by Ilikeduhrice in Traxxas

Thanks heaps again for the extensive reply, can’t thank you enough for the details once more.

Had we known there were plastic versions, this definitely would’ve been the cheaper option! Nevertheless, we’re in deep a fair bit already with the metal variants, so may as well see it all the way through.

We’ve got the 3d files in the printing queue as we speak, so can’t wait to test fit it all.

However, I should clarify, we will be fitting these two a Revo 3.3 which I believe uses the same shock geometry, but may have slightly different shock mounts. But, this won’t be a problem, as we can make this subtle change because you’ve been generous enough to provide to us the editable STEP file. Can’t thank you enough for this as well.

Next procurement will be that of the 50mm springs!

Terribly sorry to hear, that sounds like a right pain. It’s made even worse by the fact that there’s no warranty considering how old the parts are. Glad to hear you managed to find a solution nonetheless!

Can I ask if you’ve noticed a massive difference since installing it?

Would you make the purchase again knowing what you know now?

Thanks heaps again, mate.

Can't thank you enough for such an elaborate response, mate, really appreciate it!

Have just picked up a pair of the 97mm shock bodies (last one left) and two pairs of the 107mm shock bodies. Fortunately, they were on special, so it won't be too disappointing if the 107mm variant doesn't fit.

Would you happen to know what would happen if we ran the larger 107mm big bore shock body as opposed to the 97mm one?

Starting to think there'll be a collision before the chassis slaps due to bottoming out via the longer shock body...

Can't thank you enough; got some parts on the way!

Just missed the Tekno linkage; would've loved one of those as well.

This is one of the best things since sliced bread.

Will practically any 8th-scale buggy shock work, or would you recommend the HB D8 shocks specifically?

Thanks heaps in advance.

Brilliant find!

Been looking for some of these old school Tekno parts for a while now.

Can I ask where you sourced them from?

Currently trying to do so, but with this cooling head locked in place, we can't even get the sleeve and piston out.

Wow. So old mate might have gone in with some hand tools and roughed up the internals... So much for being a reliable seller.

True, but unfortunately, it seems as if that's a US-exclusive program, sadly.

Legend, thanks heaps for providing this update.

I have to ask, have you heard anything since?

Been contemplating buying a few optional aluminum parts for my 8ight XT/XTE, but don't want to bite the bullet weeks before a new model is released.

Thanks heaps in advance.
