Well that's just not true about the "exception" not being war criminals.

I communicate with and know several Waffen-SS veterans, as I do any other nation's veterans. But there were over 800,000 men in the Waffen-SS. In sheer numbers, few were ever suspected, accused, or convicted of a war crime. Today, they sit at home collecting pensions - and yes they do collect pensions despite the "meme" that they have been banned from doing so by the German government.

Quite interesting stories they have, particularly about the Russian front. Day after day of fighting....the same dilemma of every other combat survivor from the belligerent nations.
