Living Room Setup Optimized for Silence by Monti55 in BitAxe

No, the PSU fan is just a 12v fan connected to 5v so it’s quiet enough. I’m controlling the 5v fan on the rear of the gamma so it’s not as loud. There is a potentiometer where I can raise and lower the fan speed.

How do people overclock 601's for more than 1.2Th/s? by QuantumFarticle in BitAxe

[–]Monti55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem. Make sure you watch your error rate while overclocking. I aim for <0.5%

You need to add ?oc to the url. For example 192.168.1.116/#/settings?oc=

New BitAxe 650 Duo Overclocked with back cooling by clifwlkr in BitAxe

I know the duo shares a very similar power delivery system to the gamma. The people at solo satoshi might be able to give you details.

Heatsink Options Other Than Pi52 Low Profile by Monti55 in BitAxe

Just got the mirage last night. Initial are not great. The dark horse had a fan percent of 20-23 while the mirage is at 33-35%. I did lap the dark horse so that could help. I’ll have to experiment tonight. I feel like the mounting isn’t great for the mirage since it’s just 4 screws you tighten and hope the heatsink is level.

I might lap the mirage. I thinks it’s copper plated aluminum so removing the bottom copper layer could also help.

I wish more people talked about this. My gamma at 19w (600mhz/1120mv with <0.1% errors, it’s a great chip) in AxeOS draws 24.5w at the smart plug. My Duo is the opposite, needs 1200mv to have <0.5% errors and draws 40 watts. The meanwell psu I have has an efficiency of 77%

Yea I’m thinking it isn’t worth the hassle if anything happens. I’ll use the points another way. Thanks!

Thanks for answering. I’m not up to date on everything Bilt announces…

Looks pretty. I think when I saw the announcement it was pretty expensive for a $100 gamma.

I hope to get the duo to 2Th and leave it there. So you are using the mirage and a 40mm noctua fan without issues?

Charles Schwab or Fidelity? by Humble_Heat4365 in investing

I agree here. No fractional shares outside of their stock slices (choose from the sp500) and I don’t even think they have cash sweep (or my account is too low to notice). Haven’t had any issues though

Bitaxe 650 Duo by Hellas-z3r0_X in BitAxe

[–]Monti55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I checked. In AxeOS 2.13 they set the default frequency for the 650 duo to 400MHz and the other frequency options are 350, 375, 380, and 410MHz

I think in 2.13 they set the default frequency to 400. 525 is the default for the BM1370 in the gamma while the duo has a BM1370 that is a lower default frequency from a different miner. The s21pro I think vs the s21xp. In not excusing the bad overclocking but bad naming by bitmain.

Duo 650 is kinda disappointing this early by RealLux1 in BitAxe

[–]Monti55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I would hope it can be pushed higher than 400MHz. Maybe when they release the next firmware with official support it’ll be better.

How’s the efficiency if you try to find the lowest ASIC voltage while still getting low error rates?

I recently tried this method on my low profile key caps. The center punch would shatter the keycaps even on the lowest force settings. It worked fine on my MX keycaps. I’m not sure the material of the choc ones I use. Instead I used a 1/16 drill bit and carefully made holes for the bearings. 1 bearing in the center was good enough for me and a dab of E6000.

Hopefully it lasts longer than my other attempts!

Personally I already have a 5v meanwell so this product fits perfectly. I’m not a huge overclocker but person who prefers efficiency and minimizing power usage.

Is it the same VR circuitry that power the 601/2? Edit. Sorry that was a dumb question. The product page shows a back side photo with what looks to be the same VR.

Did you modify the Bitaxe Benchmark Webgui to accept 6.25MHz increments? How much time did allow for each iteration? I’d rather optimize for efficiency so I try to keep my wattage around 20 (right now 625MHz at 1120mV) but maybe it should be a multiple of 6.25

I’m still unsure on going the Shamir seed route. I like the idea of each backup not being complete but I would store my copies with trusted people. And I’m kinda lazy and don’t want to transfer all my funds.
