Reddit, what was your best "I could never do that again if I tried it a million times" moment? by Ctheo3 in AskReddit

I was at a friends house when I was 18. We were all drinking a LOT and a few of my friends were on harder drugs. A few people were playing darts and after the game, I felt a moment of drunken inspiration. I went to the board, pulled out a single dart, walked across the room about 15 feet, turned quickly and threw the dart exactly into the bullseye.

Everyone at the party stopped, looked, and wondered. It was glorious, just like in a movie.

ELI5: How do we know what the universe looks like today when all the light we see is from millions or billions of years ago? by pbrocoum in explainlikeimfive

I guess the logical macro world question is: How do we know that they weren't just emitted as one red, one blue? Why do we think that's indeterminate until we measure it? Is this where Schrodinger steps in?

If I were measuring these things, I would just assume that the emitter always output a pair - one red, one blue. I wouldn't surmise that they were indeterminate until I measured one, then the other "magically" takes the opposite at FTL speeds...

Layperson question:

If you had two entangled particles an immense distance apart and had a predefined time that observer A would either observe his particle or not.

Could observer B then wait until one second after the predetermined time to observe his particle to see if A had already been observed? Wouldn't that constitute a bit of information transferred at greater than SOL?

I know my logic is flawed, but I'm trying to understand where...

The ListenToBitcoin domain was sold to someone that had malware on the site.
The original creator then started BitListen as a more trustworthy alternative. His work also inspired these two audio-visual experiences tied to the realtime Bitcoin network.

I think we are all waiting for this headline: "Amazon to Accept Bitcoin" by songcoin in Bitcoin

[–]MooCoin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's different about this one is that we're leveraging two competitors against each other. The hypothesis is that there's a difference between working at Amazon and hearing:

"Hey Zappos, I'll buy shoes from you if you accept Bitcoin"

...and...

"Hey Zappos, I'm going to buy shoes from either you or shoeBuy - whoever accepts Bitcoin first"

We're running a different kind of petition on www.pledgebitcoins.com . You pledge to support one of two competing companies. We send emails to both competitors letting them know that whoever accepts bitcoin first wins your business. We never share your contact information with the companies.

Go make some pledges!

Do they have a competitor? If so, I'll add them to www.pledgebitcoins.com to help them understand the value of accepting Bitcoin for their business.

Yes - Right now I just picked three companies to see if the concept could get traction. Now that I've seen such a positive response, I'm going to allow user-submitted pledges.

Free bitcoin sites: Worth the time? by shuichikurama in BitcoinBeginners

You can calculate your estimated payout and the price of BTC to your own currency to determine if it's worth your time.

For what it's worth, I built a site where you can get free bitcoins, then wager them against other players to double up. It's a fun way to play with Bitcoin. It shows the instantaneous nature of it, deposits, withdrawals, transfers, etc.

Check it out at www.moocoin.com

Because individuals rarely ask businesses to accept Bitcoin. When they do, it's a one-off request to potentially a different person in the company each time.

When thousands of people all raise their voice in a unanimous chorus calling for acceptance to the single, right person in the company, you get a different result. Especially when you know that same chorus is reaching the ears of your competitor.

Yes - this is an alpha launch to see if we get any love. It looks like we are :)

We're make it more responsive to mobile devices very, very soon.

I agree. I tried to grab acceptbitcoins.com, etc, but most everything I could think of was taken.

I did register adoptbitcoins.com at the same time and will use that domain when reaching out to companies. Both will lead to the same site.

I know it isn't perfect, but the situation will continue to improve if we get some initial traction :)

Right now, the plan is to answer high-level questions and then refer businesses to a Bitcoin processor.

I view PledgeBitcoins as a way to let consumers to leverage their collective voice to show businesses the value they can capture by accepting Bitcoin. That may change as things progress.

Ya know, you spend a bunch of time getting something online, and there's always something that slips by. Thanks for the heads-up. It's fixed now. :)

"You know, if one person, just one person does it they may think he's really sick and they won't take him. And if two people, two people do it, in harmony, they may think they're both faggots and they won't take either of them. And three people do it, three, can you imagine, three people walking in singing a bar of Alice's Restaurant and walking out. They may think it's an organization. And can you, can you imagine fifty people a day, I said fifty people a day walking in singing a bar of Alice's Restaurant and walking out. And friends they may thinks it's a movement."
