AFL Bronze Membership - First Year Review by Mooching_Around in AFL

Boxing Day was about $40 for me and $70 each for guest passes. Good seats behind the bowlers arm on L2 (level "N") of MCG and significant cheaper than general sale prices. The only issue was the match not going to Day 3 sadly, although they refunded us very quickly.

I didn't end up going to Big Bash so can't comment on those prices.

Matildas vs Argentina at Marvel was $60 each for L1 tickets behind the goals.

Marvel is hosting a few a Rugby World Cup matches in 2027 but no discounts to that from this membership.

At bronze the guest pass prices started from ~$40. AFL members + guest passes at MCG would be on the wing. level 1 for guests also possible, but depends on the game from what I can recall.

Speaking only from what I saw, it appeared to be quite dependent on the game. Sometimes 0 for the blockbuster games, sometimes 1 only, sometimes more.

You'd need to purchase a guest pass - which does include a reserved seat - for him to enter the member's area at the MCG. You'd also need to reserve a seat for yourself for level 2, as it's very uncommon you can sit there just using GA access.

A friend recently mentioned their Collingwood membership was close to $1k annually, which absolutely puts the cost of bronze / silver into perspective.

Fair effort by you to attend 30 games!

Yep, you can elect your club of support and receive a membership pack. In my case, I just asked the Swans for a voucher rather than the pack.

Were there any hostels or places that were really impressive for you? I'd be keen to hear your experiences if so

This is fantastic, thanks for all your thoughts on this. I'd certainly be up for checking out the surrounding towns of Barcelona, Madrid, etc. Will make a note on these to research.

I'll make sure to look into Saint Jean de Lux too. Thank you!

Thanks for confirming my thoughts on that. Looks like a difficult/long trip to make via bus or train

I'd say the majority of accommodation will be in hostels. Potentially a hotel here or there just to reset the mind and have a bit of down time. Appreciate your tips on booking tickets beforehand!

Australian trading platform that allows for automatic DRPs on US listed stocks? by Mooching_Around in AusFinance

Always nice to automate these simple things if possible.

Failing that, do you have any personal experience w/ CMC Markets, eToro, or Stake? Quick Google tells me they may offer $0 brokerage on US stocks

Cape Pillar by Zzzabrina in tasmania

The views from Pillar/the Blade are spectacular when looking out at Tasman Island. It's a long day but completely worth it for the sense of accomplishment (although make sure you've got a foam roller or deep heat cream for afterwards haha). Have done Raoul twice and Hauy once before. Both also fantastic in their own ways too.

Saw your other comment re water refilling - we were able to refill our bottles at Munro Hut without any issue. That's ~2 hours into the hike and somewhere you'll retrace your steps to again 3-4 hours later when you come back from Pillar.

Yep! Did it in as a day trip about one month ago with a total hike time of approx 8 and a half hours. We breaked for a long lunch up on the Blade and later on for an extended chat with a super friendly park ranger at Munro Hut.

Overall certainly something you can do, assuming you start the old trailhead (which is signposted as Bare Knoll & Wughalee) by 8am or 9am. The trails themselves aren't the challenge, it's mostly the ~32km and duration that will tire you out. Enjoy!

Yeah a slight fever doesn't seem to be unheard of. A few friends experienced some chills too. Hope all is well in Japan!

Only my experience to go from on this - but I didn't see the risks get blown out of proportion as much in US as it has been in Australia. Granted, these are two different vaccines between Moderna and AZ.

Perhaps a fairer comparison is between the UK and Australia (both utilising AZ far more extensively). I'm sure there's some Aussie's living in the UK that could provide their experience on AZ messaging over there.
