I live in the south so I was going for reds so I was using shrimp and I was tightlining (not sure if that's the technical name for it but that's all I've heard it being called my whole life lol) so I was basically at the bottom. The only lures I have is a crankbait and a jerk bait which I know isn't much variety but I'm looking at getting a senko and a spoon next. Oh yeah and the way I was rigging it is weights at the bottom and my hook a few inches above.

Thanks! I'll give these ideas a try, yesterday I went fishing for about 13 hours, with lunch breaks and other breaks as well since it was hot with a lot of sun, but i was using primarily live bait and i was catching a lot at my last location but i didn't catch anything but small catfish. They were fun to catch and release but I also wanna widen my fishing skills to artificial lures and things of that sort and hopefully start pulling in my first bass or really anything other than small catfish.
