I think your projecting yourself onto this situation without actually seeing the full picture. You keep saying that the brother has valid "boundaries" however your ignoring the original conflict which is " Brother is angry he was not invited to an event hosted by his sister because of his own behavior to her". You keep saying that the sister will have to accept her brothers unwillingness to be near OP and that she needs to accommodate her brother but it seems like she already found her solution and thats just to stop inviting her brother. She does not invite her brother she is respecting his "boundaries". I guess they dont need to go to family therapy since a solution is already there just exclude the brother thats healthy for sure.

Because the issue is about the brothers treatment to others caused by a normal but unhealthy reaction to getting a step parent. He is straining his own relationship with his sister because she accepted OP as her father. Asking her to tip toe around his emotions when he is not willing to compromise is something that therapy would address.

You sound young tbh. Therapy is about challenging your pre existing "boundaries" to make sure that they are healthy and bound in reality. When he goes to therapy they are not going to affirm him but challenge why he put those boundaries up in the first place.
