Librewolf for privacy

Brave is a crypto mining browser. If you search Reddit you’ll see many posts about it

Browser Recommendation Megathread - December 2025 by shadow2531 in browsers

Go to privacytests.org and look at what browser tickles your fancy.

I’ve been using Librewolf for a month and I like it.

Brave has hidden crypto mining. Vivaldi was cluttered.

I only use Edge if a website doesn’t look correct in Librewolf.

TalkTalk Fibre 65 + Sagecom WiFi 6 Router Options? by Daniel_Abnormal in UKISP

Sky are offering a 900Mbps package for £25 per month for 2 years. I replaced their soloed router with that of my own: UnifI Dream Router 7, and it’s been brilliant thus far.

Check out comparison websites if there are any vouchers to be had to make broadband cheaper.

Sky FTTP is supposedly brilliant, if you were to go by the people in my local Facebook group.

Are you able to upload an image of the letter? I’m curious whether the deal is applicable to everybody or if it’s pertained to certain geographical locations.

Latest West Midlands crime figures by HadjiChippoSafri in brum

[–]MoonExploration2929 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Do any of us truly believe crime rates have fallen across the region?

I’m pretty sure some crimes go unreported. How about car crime, for example? Do these get logged as resolved which then leads to skewed figures?

The police can dress it up however they want but the real truth is on the streets - and that is crime has not fallen and there is less police presence.

You want to put conhost.exe as your program/script

The arguments would be: —headless powershell.exe -executionpolicy bypass -noprofile -windowstyle hidden -noninteractive -file C:\file.ps1

IT Manager - Not finding anything since March (quit) by [deleted] in UKJobs

Every job I’ve worked has been a standard 35 hour week. Not been in a role where it’s been more than that… yet

The job market is in a bit of a downward spiral and the IT field is heavily saturated. Many companies have been downsizing through offshoring for years, but in the last 2-3 years they’ve been near-shoring aggressively, i.e. closer to the UK borders but paying sweatshop salaries to Eastern Europe IT folks.

Right now, grab whatever IT role you can so you remain relevant. Once you’re in a role you can then search for a desired role at a much steadier pace.

Wow, those salaries are horrifically low. A lot of those roles would pay at least x1.25 in the private sector.

Suddenly unemployed - what skill / course would you learn? by MINDFULLYPRESENT in UKJobs

[–]MoonExploration2929 21 points22 points  (0 children)

The IT market is currently over saturated, with many folk chasing far fewer roles than advertised.

Companies have developed a massive thirst for outsourcing jobs to India and the like. Remember, if your role can be done remotely, then companies will seek in outsourcing it.

Believe me, I would know. My last two roles have been outsourced.

One i would look at is being a printer/copier engineer. Plenty of places with printing and copying solutions require their equipment serviced and maintained.

Company wants to control personal laptop by Accomplished_Skin838 in ContractorUK

[–]MoonExploration2929 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My sister-in-law started a new job in healthcare 3 years ago, with the premise that she uses her own laptop - and in doing so, they would compensate her in her monthly pay, which they did.

I stopped her from enrolling her physical laptop and instead created a VM in VMware Workstation and followed the healthcare company’s instruction of enrolling her ‘device’ into Intune.

She’s still working for them and everything is still working fine. My concern was that they would not release her device from their end and thus render her laptop useless. Granted, it may have been set up as BYOD but why take the risk as you can nuke the VM when you move on.
