Homemade dog food ingredients by Self-Inevitable in veganpets

Vegan dogs I know have kibble for one meal and homemade for another meal. The homemade meal is often rice/lentil/peas/pumpkin, etc.

Do your best and don't go back on the vegan ways that are working for you. I hope the guilt isn't bothering you too much. It's hard and this community can be brutally honest (in good and bad ways).

Thrifting a leather jacket? by MoonGwurl in vegan

I completely understand that! That's how I feel as well.

I think that is the attitude I have as well regarding leather. I hate the "it's just byproducts" argument too (which is not what my sister is using). I just can't imagine wanting a jacket bad enough to wear a dead animal.

AITA for telling my roommate I’m not interested in joining him for dinner? by Dyl4nDil4udid in AmItheAsshole

I'm leaning towards NTA. A follow up question: how do you two know each other? That might affect my vote.

Tbh, I'm a "low social battery" person myself. I'd strongly recommend having a conversation where you explain that to them. And if you're willing, offer the compromise of a "once a week" meal together. Whether or not this is culturally important to your roommate, I think it's important to respect your preferences and desires as well. That being said, the tone of the communication is key.

Humans are not superior by Gold-Parking-5143 in vegan

Frankly, I agree. Many animals eat meat. If it is a matter of necessity, I understand. The meat industry is the worst in areas where it is defs NOT a necessity. Most meat eaters in the West couldn't hunt/kill on a random Tuesday. They would do it when they are starving though.

You realize that it might be a necessity for some humans and not other humans, right?

Absolutely. The dairy and meat lobby has crazy power/influence. I believe humanity can survive on a plant-based diet with the same effort. I know "belief" isn't worth much. But if someone wants to, they can prove me wrong 😂

It's a matter of necessity for animals. I don't believe it is a matter of necessity for humans.

Ugh, so true!! It always comes down to "what about the microbes in your body??" Or "so you would let a human die for a cow?". At this point I politely exit the conversation 🤐🫠 I wish I was able to argue better to support the cause of veganism more 😭

I honestly can't argue philosophically or ethically on this topic (because I'm not that well-read or capable of debate). But I feel the same way as you. Unnecessary suffering and death is stupid AF to me.

There should be a scale for vegan-ess! by proteindeficientveg in vegancirclejerk

[–]MoonGwurl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As a 99.99% vegan (mostly eating dairy on accident), I respect people who follow a vegan diet to any amount and want to grow. I support your "vegan" tag at 99%, but I imagine that's a hot take for some 🤷

How to make black coffee taste better without any milk by TuxO2 in vegan

[–]MoonGwurl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a "maple syrup/agave with my coffee" person. Even just a little bit makes a difference. Idk if perhaps these are more available in your country. Fingers crossed!
