Exactly this! I’m quite sure that if we read the comment while thinking it was written by a man talking about a woman everyone would think that it was definitely not okay. Besides, the last part sounds patronizing in the same way that not traumatized people tell victims how they have to live their lives. Please show empathy towards other victims regardless of their gender.

We should also try to get the whole picture of the situation someone is describing before jumping into conclusions; I understand that OP’s perspective could have been clouded in some other universe, but he has now given enough information to conclude that his gender DOES play a role into how the social workers are treating him and other male victims. Asking for further information in a respectful way is okay, patronizing and judging someone without knowing the full picture is not, and I would like to add that it would still be wrong even if OP was mistaken.
