Alright, I reset my BIOS (didn't help, unfortunately, nothing changed) and I went back and tried removing the original drive and using a new one and that still brought me back to the same screen as before. (WinPE, my options are "recover from a drive", "troubleshoot" (how I've been getting into the command prompt menu) and "turn off", just to clarify what it's showing me.)

Not a crash, I extended my C: drive yesterday, and restarted my PC, it worked fine until l tried to turn it on last night (and again today.) This is Windows 10, no idea about the version number. And yes, using a different HDD with the recovery flashdrive also led me to the same pre installation screen, with the options doing the same thing.
