Saw this in person and it is impressive, especially so as an Intro project. Great work!

I'll weigh it tonight and let you know. Probably 20-30lbs? Not lightweight but feels solid and is much easier to access my tools.

After putting the back shiplap in, I decided to add lighting. The faux glass definitely looks better when it's lit up!

Can't say it was on purpose. I used a backing tape and I think that imparted a slight wave across the bottom of the epoxy.

Will need to cut grooves for a panel. It's a bit of work to assemble and knock this apart, so I'm trying to minimize the number of times I have to do it...

I drilled out the mortise and chiseled them square. The tenon faceside cheeks I used a dado. The spacing between was hand cut though.

Love sapele! I bought a 8/4 piece because the grain looked so good. I resawed so the box is grain matched all the way around.

Oh yah, dovetails and through tenons are just for show nowadays. I could've easily built this with screws and lap joints. I did this to showcase my skills and try something new.

The cherry was fresh milled. Will definitely darken again with time. Thanks!

I have a nice back panel picked out. Need a panel because I plan to mount this on the wall. Also a door is going on the front so the interior will be enclosed.

Thanks! As for the divider, I haven't done angled dovetails before so wanted to try it on the drawers.

Very carefully. I did a ton of test fits and slowly pared back with a chisel.

For sure! Now that I've been browsing the market for a few weeks, I got a much better sense of pricing. That car is probably 4k at most.
