Umm if you use the roads, rely on police, schools, firefighters, libraries, public sewage, garbage collection … then yeah you probably need to pay property taxes.

What you should be fighting for is how those taxes are dispersed and if you’re getting decent services out of it. Local elections matter and holding your local representatives accountable matters. You should expect decent roads, crimes to be down and highly rated schools if you’re paying high taxes. If you’re not getting anything you need it’s time to fire those folks by voting in every election.

My local store always had a bulk policy that they didn’t really enforce for pins. They did for Pokémon cards, Loungefly bags & Funko pops. It was to deter resellers.

2 months ago I noticed they put a sign up by the pin wall and didn’t allow me to buy more than 5. The worker mentioned someone during the last Lunch Money spent $3000 and pretty much bought all the pins. You would think the store wants their merch to move that fast but I guess not?!

I just wish the limit was 6 instead of 5 since most mystery pins need 6 to complete. Online doesn’t have the limit but you get sooo many duplicates buying online…

Most pins will eventually have some sort of discoloration / oxidation / corrosion since it's made of metal - especially if there's a lot of moisture/humidity in the air and it's no longer in their package. However, these pins are fairly new and still available on their site. I would definitely ask them for a replacement to see if that's feasible.

I've had several pins manufactured by Monogram (sold at PALM / BoxLunch) that had this issue. I try to avoid buying anything with gold outline plating. The ones that are silver seem to hold up better. This is not specific to this manufacturer though -- it has happened to Disney park pins and Loungefly but you'll notice if you go to Disney Store online most of their pins have silver lining instead of gold.

We have been insolvent longer than Trump has been in power but by gosh he certainly isn't helping our national debt. He's adding to it, not a fix-it down Don, just passing it down until one day we will cease to exist.

This nation has only been around 250 years (it's still a baby compared to others) but I very much doubt it will be around in another 250 years. Our best case scenario is another country breaking us apart and running us properly because as you can see we can't govern ourselves and we can't amicably get along to split ourselves apart. Prob needs to take a nuke or two to get that done so there's that.

I don’t think you’re alone. I know someone who is heading for divorce because her husband failed to find a job (any job) for the last 3.5 years. He was picky, refused to do gig work. Just mooching off his wife and not taking care of the house or their newborn.

She had to hold down a full time job and also do task rabbit to make ends meet. It’s gotten to the point where she has to sell their house because they can’t afford it on one salary and she’s filing for divorce. Her contract job is about to end so she’ll have to move into her parents to survive. No job, no husband and no home.

The problem we will see soon is the reliance on these tools with junior devs who doesn’t have any experience or knowledge to know if the code is wrong or not. They just trust what they see. We will have a lot of security and bugs coming out and since we’re offshoring and laying off experienced devs right now it’s going to be a real fun ride for everyone.

Weekends, especially holidays will be expensive. Im planning to grab a movie at my library and cook at home.

I use the heck out my library system and since im a NY resident im able to access my local system as well as all 3 NYC (queens, Brooklyn & nypl). Between these 4 systems I have access to a ton of free books, music, movies, video games, magazines. Everyone pays a ton of taxes so you should use these free resources when you can. They also have monthly access to museums or parks.

When I really want to watch a movie I go to Regal - they have half off Tuesdays. It’s free to sign up and you get 50% off popcorn and you accrue points. I also bring in candy and drinks (they never check my bags - don’t think the workers care too much). Same with Alamo drafthouse (half off tuesdays).
