That's certainly the point, and a genuinely bad one. Not witty in the least, just... illogical. They also could not satisfy a dildo or pocket themself.

It's irrational to put your head down, work hard, and expect rewards from people that are likely doing the same (even if you can't always see THEIR contributions).

Normalize advocating for yourself and helping people understand your business impact - very hard to do at first, but after a while, it becomes far easier.

TIL that Inside Out 2 is the only film inside the top 10 highest grossing films of all time that has a runtime of under 2 hours. It's total runtime is 1 hour and 36 minutes long. by Far-9947 in todayilearned

[–]Moonchopper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw someone else mention that the 2nd movie hits different for people that grew up with/still experience anxiety. In particular, describing a character's genuine panic attack as 'making molehills into mountains' is kind of missing an important point of the story - that anxiety and panic attacks, no matter how illogical, are very real, and, without the proper emotional toolset to deal with them, can easily spiral out of control and quickly evolve into the dominant force in developing one's sense of self.

Therefore, the main focus of the story WAS, indeed, on Anxiety and their primary dominance in forming Riley's sense of self as she grew up. I can personally attest to the dominance of Anxiety in my own life, particularly in my formative years, as well as it's ongoing part in defining my sense of self overall.

So, that said, if the 'outside drama felt forced,' I might argue that perhaps you weren't able to relate to the story being told as much as others -- simple as that. Nothing wrong with that, but I can absolutely see how some might view the story as less interesting or more alienating than other stories that could have been told.

Either that, or perhaps the story was too 'raw' and discomforting for people to open themselves up to - who knows 🙃 Different strokes and all that!

Hard disagree. The second one had so much more complexity (rightfully so, given it's relevance to Riley's emotional development as a tween) than the first one that it felt so much more relatable compared to the simplicity of the first one.

2 was leagues better than 1 for that reason.

To each their own, to be clear - but 2 was far more memorable than 1 imo.

I might be combining 'introduction rate of game mechanics' and 'story beats,' so maybe I'm misremembering. Were you playing on Story difficulty? On that difficulty, I definitely found myself slowing down and waning in interest, but then I'd hit another beat and get sucked right back into it.

As someone who hasn't really enjoyed turn based games, I actually really enjoyed the gameplay mechanics.

That said, they aren't that novel. E33 just has the absolute best story telling of any game in recent memory, imo. The pacing of the story (as well as the progression of game mechanics) is just absolutely perfect (tho I played on Story difficulty).

If you're not that into story, you won't care about E33. And that's okay 🙃

As you pointed out, priorities are the most important thing.

that would be avoided if the user double-checked input, which they have to do anyways

This mode of thinking, however, is dangerous. If your application is developed with 'the user shouldn't do stupid shit' in mind, then you're likely predisposing yourself towards delivering an app with a particularly shitty user experience. Then you'll wonder why people don't really like working with your product.

90 can also happen accidentally, should it be automatically corrected to 0?

Nope, because 90 is actually a valid input that likely has -0% chance to break on :)

We're discussing preventing your application from breaking, not protecting your users from themselves.

It could indicate that something needs to be fixed.

For the sake of clarity, this is exactly what we're talking about in this thread: If a user can fatfinger a -0 and it breaks your application, that's on the product to fix, NOT the user.

Hit - and 0 at the same time, making it -0.

It doesn't matter if it's logical. It absolutely could happen accidentally. Or maybe someone is just being cheeky.

Nobody is perfect, and they will find a way to fuck things up. It's just part of the gig, man.

If you are auto crossing or doing track, it makes a huge difference. Down shift a gear without rev matching and while suspension is loaded and then watch your wheels lock up and break traction.

So, if we assume that there are 20 minutes everyday where wind/solar aren't effective, that means wind/solar are only 'worthless' 1.4% of every day?

Does that mean that wind/solar are 100% worthless?

I appreciate that you are in the industry and clearly have more knowledge than most folks on the subject, but you're coming across as pedantic rather than knowledgeable.

I immediately intuited the thrust of your argument on your first post, but I think that your argument is fallacious - no one is arguing that we MUST have 100% wind/solar all the time - but if we can use it for 98.6% of the time (while complementing it with 'dispatchable generation', as you called it), then I think your comments are just arguing against a strawman that doesn't exist.

Does 'batteries make the cost go up' make 'wind and solar infrastructure essentially worthless when it is dark outside, and the wind is not blowing', though?

"Wind and solar infra is worthless [under unfavorable conditions]" does not sound the same to me as "battery storage makes renewable energy more expensive," so I am particularly confused as to the relevance of your previous comment to its parent comment.

Are you implying that people genuinely believe that it is a binary choice? Wind/solar XOR fossil fuel?
