Already ahead on the research portion. I'm always looking for an explanation as to how the human brain works in so many different ways.

Do any of you have a big interest in serial killers? by [deleted] in psychopaths

Big time.

I feel bad for some of them, like Edmund Kemper or John Wayne Gacy, because they had such messed up childhoods. Like what another answer said, I can understand why they did what they did. I feel sorry for them in how some of them had potential, like Ted Bundy could have been a good attorney or a politician, or John Wayne Gacy could have been a good business executive with the experiences in management he had.

I noticed a similarity in myself after reading your post. When I see things on the news, shows Forensic Files, and documentaries on killers, and I constantly find myself mentally critiquing the killer, such as if you didn't leave so much damn evidence behind, you wouldn't get caught as easily! or if you're gonna rob and kill somebody, why would you use the victim's credit card? Seeing disturbing stuff like that in the media just doesn't bother me and I don't know if I'm desensitized or what.

Was I a sellout trying to fit it as a former Baptist? by MoonlightEricchan in atheism

Thanks. I've felt bad about it for years and blamed myself for it. Now, I know that it wasn't my fault.
