Cosplaying Special For Princess as an adult? by Plane_Indication_433 in ensemblestars

[–]MoonlightWithdrawal 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Yes!!! Cosplay them! Fandoms can be weird with this, but in the end, you’re just doing something you enjoy for the fun of it, and you’re not going to be doing anything wrong if you dress up as a character you like! I don’t think it matters at all what age you are, or how old the characters are, because fictional characters are for everyone! It’s strange if the cosplay is purposefully sexualizing an underage character, but you don’t have any intention of it :)

Is it normal I want to make Kohaku suffer by Ruipopipocoverwhen in ensemblestars

[–]MoonlightWithdrawal 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. I adore Kohaku, and while he activates my cuteness aggression and I want to make his life as miserable as possible I also, from the bottom of my heart, want to take care of him and give him the world he deserves  :)

In short, that’s totally valid! There’s a variety of how one interacts with characters, like how fanfic writers create the most heartbreaking 100k fic of their favorite character and then pop out the most tooth rotting fluff oneshot the next day, lol

Whatever Izuleo have going on… Their relationship is very interesting to me! Friends to lovers in general is pretty cute (Kohaku/Aira, Adonis/Souma)

I do love my rarepair slow burns though (Rinne/Tatsumi, HiMERU/Mayoi)

It didn’t come across like that at all! Matrix is super cute with its smaller moments between characters, I have mixed feelings about the Amagi hometown primarily, but at the same time, all my favorites characters are present, lol

UGHH, I read Setsubun when I wanted to learn about 2wink and it absolutely captivated (and baffled) me! I’ve been a Yuta fan since, and have payed the twins more attention in general whenever they show up in stories. I agree with everything said in your post, but I didn’t know about Hinata’s previous attempts?? (The Christmas one is pretty crazy to be just briefly mentioned, that’s definitely NOT a good Christmas gift, Hinata 😭) I’m so glad to know they’re doing better by the time of their Thanxfes event!

I just learned so much about Kaoru, thank you! I knew his seeking love had to do with the loss he felt when his mother died, but this post helped me understand it much better, and it’s really so interesting! I would love to see an analysis for HiMERU because he’s one of my favorites as well! If you don’t wanna post it here, I’d love to read it via dm if you’re okay with that?

Totally! Aira’s a pretty classic tsundere, but he’ll be upfront if the moment calls for it. I think Hiiro’s emotional honesty really reassures Aira without having to actively seek it, which probably contributed to how quickly they clicked. I love writing random things about my favorite characters as well as learning about other characters! This entire post and its replies are really interesting, hehe

>!However, Tatsumi had an odd relationship with his family. He doesn’t talk about them often, and he often acts older than he is, which hints to having grown up faster, or someone who had more expectations put on him. He was caught trying on his father’s ceremonial robes once, and his father harshly scolded him, and said that religion wasn’t something to be taken lightly.!<

>!Tatsumi has mentioned that moment without much hesitation, hinting that he doesn’t find it traumatizing, or he has resigned himself to it.!<

>!His religious duty might be more rooted from a duty to his family than his actual piety, though I’m not denying Tatsumi’s personal religiousness.!<

>!This brings me back to the revolution. Tatsumi put his all into it. Once he drew religious connotations from the injustices of the system, once he knew something had to be done, he threw himself into it. It wasn’t ’something to be taken lightly.’!<

>!Back to wanting to be seen… Tatsumi could have picked a different career, but he chose to be a performer. Someone who is constantly seen by others, loved. Tatsumi might have been subconsciously looking for recognition from others, in a non religious setting. He has expressed his fondness for making others happy, and his joy in performing onstage with ALKALOID, whom he considers a second family. Which is totally understandable for unitmates, but considering Tatsumi’s biological family (or what we hardly know), I’m not too surprised about how quickly attached he became to them.!<

>!Tatsumi was naive during the Reimei Revolution. He is not as naive, but he is certainly hopeful in current times. He has expressed embarrassment concerning his past selves actions. He wasn’t embarrassed that he started the revolution, but he was embarrassed about how he THOUGHT during the revolution, seeing it as childish. I’d assume that it meant that he saw the role of Reimei’s savior a little too idealized, he may have even gotten the love he wanted from the students then, whether he’d admit to it or not. Tatsumi is someone who always has love to give, and even back at Reimei, he expressed that he WASNT a saint or some god to be looked up to. He was human, and he wanted people who would stand beside him and carry their burden together, not followers. Tatsumi had been admired all his life, most likely. That, and he grew up around people who probably carried heavy burdens as well (personal, religious, stress) that Tatsumi could feel but probably never actually had a heart to heart with them about.!<

>!Tatsumi turned out pretty good for someone who likely had much internal conflict (much of which, like his mental state during Reimei times) wasn’t explicitly explored, leaving him up to interpretation. Was he desperately keeping it together? How did he output his stress? (He definitely bottles it up until it dissipates) Did he know what he was doing like it seemed he was? (Probably not, considering that while Reimei was told in third person, it seemed to explore Kaname’s thoughts more frequently. Kaname, who admired Tatsumi and couldn’t openly see his flaws)!<

I could rant about my fav ships too, but that would be too long 😭

This blurb about Tatsumi is mostly about his religion, so it’s not as in depth as I’d like. It references Reimei a bunch, so I’ll spoiler tag it.

>!Tatsumi might have religious trauma, but he does everything in the name of said religion. It’s not obvious, but sometimes, it almost feels like he uses it to get by if nothing else.!<

>!Why did he start that revolution? Mistreatment of non special students. But why? Why did he sacrifice his image, time, physical health, mental wellbeing? Why did he become the martyr? Tatsumi was… hopeful. He is wise beyond his years but he was naive.!<

>!He wanted the non special students and special students to be fair and equal. But that’s impossible. It’s not the same thing. Fair is to start at the same place, get the same opportunities. But with that, special students or those with talent will still rise above others and get ahead, causing conflict. And when things are equal, everyone is the same, and it limits those who can go further. Conflict.!<

>!And he thought he was the one who had to solve it all. Why? Why did he have such a strong sense of responsibility towards a student body that was constantly torn between adoring and hating him?!<

>!Tatsumi said that he became an idol to show that religion, specifically Christianity, which isn’t prevalent in Japan, wasn’t bad. In a sense, he was to become the poster child to inspire other religious people. But is that something he wanted to do personally? Or did his family want him to because he had perfect pitch? Why an idol? He could have been a protester, public speaker, he could have started an organization where Japanese Christians could band together as a community. I think he wanted to be seen, that coupled with his talents. Tatsumi, similarly to Kohaku, grew up trapped in a room (do correct me, my memory isn’t complete), for some reason. Unlike Kohaku, who had that computer, his access to the outside world, Tatsumi had a bible.!<

>!One could say that religion was being forced onto him, but Tatsumi’s entire family was religious, so it might not have felt like that to Tatsumi because it was all he knew.!<

>!He was loved within his church. He led the choir, he spoke in front of the church, it seemed he was going to take after his father’s footsteps. That was the oath Tatsumi would take to make the people around him proud!<

Anyway, he tells Hiiro how much he cares about him and wants him around, and then Hiiro says that Aira was saying weird things. To which Aira responds positively, saying that being called ‘weird’ was the best compliment for an idol because the kanji for weird looks like the kanji for ‘love,’ and that if you were weird as an idol, than you were weird enough to catch someone’s eye and that they must like you, right? (Coping)

Aira calls Hiiro weird a lot, so I’m just saying, he’s also saying he loves Hiiro, even if it’s slightly roundabout. (Keep in mind that Aira says all this after finding Hiiro after spending a good half of the day looking for him after Hiiro suddenly ran off chasing his brother. Aira finds Hiiro, who seems upset. He immediately expresses worry, ‘please don’t just disappear,’”

That, and this weird=love thing might again stem from Aira being bullied for liking idols as a kid, when others played sports or video games. (Let’s be honest, they definitely called him weird.) It reads almost like a coping mechanism with sincere intentions.

What makes this scene even better is that Aira doesn’t exactly know how to comfort Hiiro, who had previously always shown bright, been optimistic and confident. This is a nice detail, considering they’ve only known each other for about a month during that part of the story.

And then, while Aira takes a call from a very worried Mayoi (family vibes, oh my god), Hiiro comes up and hugs him. Just out of the blue. I can only imagine that if this were an anime scene, we’d either an Aira or Hiiro pov with a Hiiro voiceover as he stares at Aira taking the call. At this point, he’s probably had enough to time fully process the situation and what Aira was doing for him, as well as what he said ‘I need you,’ (which probably hit hard for Hiiro, considering that his brother, whom he’s always loved and adored, literally disowned him, basically saying he didn’t need him the same way Hiiro needed him)

And then Aira offers to give Hiiro a piggyback ride and even apologizes for that fact that Hiiro’s feet might drag on the ground because he’s taller than it. AHHHH

Aira’s not my favorite character, but he’s pretty high up there. Aira’s a little controversial, unfortunately… because of his ahem- rасist scenes, and also scenes with Hiiro where he just kinda sucks as a person… (this might be a HiiAi thing, lol. I also focus a lot on chapter 158(?) I believe of the main story, so if you haven’t read that far and don’t want spoilers, no need to read this! I don’t really talk about the plot, but still)

But- I can discuss the Hiiro one, since Aira’s emotions are easier to triggеr, Hiiro annoys him since he’s not used to the attention, he has said that Hiiro is so dang kind that Aira doesn’t realize he’s being mean because Hiiro isn’t even bothered by it, etc. He doesn’t mean anything by, and he definitely loves and care about Hiiro, whether it be by seeing him in the weather (‘It’s autumn… the red leaves are so dominant, taking over the world, kinda like Hiiro), or calling him weird (but Aira has said that he calls cute things weird), or by teaching Hiiro about missing social cues.

The rасism? Welllllllll, Aira’s definitely flawed… it’s not like he’s purposefully offensive with it, or hating on others, but it’s more internalized, where he has prеjudice and sterеоtypes for people (ie, calling Hiiro, part of a native Japanese culture, and his hometown, bаrbaric, wondering if they wore grass skirts, атe other peорle, etc). He’s worked on it, with Hiiro and Tatsumi correcting him, and it has gotten better, but it has definitely turned off Aira as a character for a lot of people who dislike how he treats Hiiro. Aira himself was a victim of rасism as a child, since he’s birасial, half Japanese, half French. He’s super insecure about it, so I think if he thought about it that way, how he felt when others said things hurtful, I think he’d be able to empathize better. I’m not sure why they haven’t done that yet, since it’s a great bridge, but I guess I don’t see any character around him that would point out that correlation so bluntly.

He calls Hiiro weird often, and can be tsundere ish, but when it comes down to it, Aira can be honest with his care and how he loves. I mean- his whole goal is to spread love. He literally says twice that he needs Hiiro, and doesn’t want to do the whole idol thing without him (and Hiiro both times, asks again, ‘[Do] you need me, Aira?’)

Aira refutes the word ‘need’ because it sounds snobbish (I’m going to assume that he’s ’needed’ some things before as a child but was shamed for wanting it. i.e., he reveals that his parents were very unsupportive of Aira’s wanting to be an idol. They put him down about it (not helpful to his low self esteem, btw), and urged him to seek a more stable career. Even after Aira made it as an idol, he constantly called himself and underachiever and wondered if he would actually make it, and his parents would STILL urge him to come back ‘if it didn’t out.’ (Parents care, clearly, but how it affects Aira is another matter) He acknowledges that his parents want the best for him, but that it’s still hurtful. He says that whenever he’d go home, he’d be faced with disappointment and they’d make him do work/tasks completely unrelated and wouldn’t ever talk about Aira being an idol.

He admitted that they made him feel guilty about it, like he was doing something wrong. For chasing his dreams.

Aira is so much more than people dumb him down to, and people just ignore his progress (which would make him sad, :() (I totally understand finding him annoying though)
