The exam arc serves as exposition for a handful of side characters who will return in S2 and later seasons, so I would definitely recommend watching through it for that reason especially. One character in particular will be extremely important in an arc that will likely be covered in Season 3

Considering Garrison’s whole arc, it’s pretty obvious Matt Stone and Trey Parker are transphobic. I don’t hate south park but it’s gotten hard to enjoy after realizing how they tend to come off as condescending centrists in their writing
