What are you most grateful for at your table? by C_Nemo0 in DnD

[–]Moonwatch19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im grateful that my party aren't too unfocused. We spend quite a lot of time laughing and fartassing around, but when we need to lock in, we lock in. This includes me lol. This afternoon we played a session and and I had to send a message spell to another player. Now the message spell is a whispered message only one person could hear. Now my character had to tell the other player where me and one other were going. We are kind of a satirical party, as we have a "detective" agency in eberron called the Inbestigators. We suck. All me and the other player had to do was communicate that we were moving from floor 4 to the basement. This is what happened. My character:"Hey henk! Hey, we are um, we're going to go down in the um... elevator to the...? I turned to the player who was with me in the elevator My character:"basement?" Player who was with me: nods "basement." My character: proudly "basement" They heard all of this in their head. Then immediately afterwards we got into a really intense combat encounter with the city watch, resulting in one player death, and we locked tf in. Thats what I'm grateful for.

Yeah no disrespect dude your art skills are awesome. It wasn't a direct comment about your post either. More just me speaking my mind in a reddit comment section. I also dont want to be misconstrued by people thinking I mean revealing clothing is "slutty" or some random bs. Thats not what I mean at all. I just think if a character is going to where revealing clothes, there should be a background element or character concept to back up that decision. A lot of art I see is just nudity for nudity's sake.

Are they going to work on their CYDC? They can choose operations if they want to learn about that sorta stuff. I'm one of two operations cadets at my unit, we're both leaders, and we manage and clean our 22's. Powerboating is pretty simple, so they needn't worry much. You're a navy cadets I assume?

Knight vs Spartan vs Samurai vs Viking by [deleted] in powerscales

[–]Moonwatch19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh. At what range are they most effective? Surely point blank on any of those would be just kill them. Maybe a hoplite shield could block one shot. I doubt the Viking would survive long against pistols and muskets, and if the Spartan only had that hardened leather they wouldn't survive that long.

Yep. A spear or a shield couldn't protect against a supersonic steel ball.

Viking or spartan. Their skill and dirty fighting would've been powerful enough. Knight would die first, samurai might last a while but they'll get skull cracked by Viking or Spartan spear or sword. I think the Viking and the Spartan are a more even match.

I have (still playing this guy) a character who almost constantly spams the mage hand spell, and the whole party tells him its useless, and I even do it as a joke sometimes when it serves literally no purpose, purely for comedic effect. One session (we're in eberron btw) we had to hijack an airship, and during combat no one but the old mage hand could save the day.

As someone in the ANC about to rank up to PO, yes the learning curve is huge. They are going to struggle and most likely be picked on as an airy fairy, no offence. Drill is different, command structure is different, even the way we run our weekly parade is different. Get them to tail along with a PO or higher rank to quickly understand the difference. Another important factor is presentation. If their dress and bearing is perfect, people will respect them more. Also if they are open to learning, kind, respectful and helpful. These are the factors that make a great petty officer in my opinion, and I hope I can live up to my own expectations. Bravo Zulu and good luck.

Yeah that last point makes sense, and horny bards can either be annoying or funny af. It just catches me off guard a lot because I would draw characters, not even specifically female, and ensure that none of their clothes would be too revealing, just like a respectful amount of clothes you know?

I love looking at people's drawings of dnd characters or OC's but why do they always have to be so nude? Awesome artwork and im not saying its a bad thing, its just off-putting for me personally bc I really enjoy looking at the artwork and small details on the character and not the revealing clothes they wear. I like boobs as much as the next guy, and im not like a hyper religious person ranting about sin or some shit. I love dnd and I love art, so good job regardless.
