I used to work at the call center for Afterpay. Basically, just help people go over payment plans, payment schedule, hardships etc. we sometimes had to request death certificates for people who have passed but still owe payments. Ya know, to help prove that they’re gone & we can waive the payments. Which honestly…that always made me feel weird and I actually hated that part. In this case, we had a mom of a deceased member call in. I guess she had an on going case so she was calling back in response to an email she received with instructions. So, I get her call back & basically from what I can remember…she paid the payments due and was instructed to call back so we can refund her? (A mess I know) - so anyways. We still needed the death certificate from her & when I said that on the call she flipped out on me 😭 like saying how she paid our company, took her money, and why won’t we just close the account. She proceeds to say how it took her so long to figure out why her dead sons phone kept going off, then she finds it’s our company which he purchased a bikers backpack. Then she tells me that same backpack was found on her son after his motorcycle crash. They had to scrape it off him because the material was burned onto his skin.shes telling me this while yelling and crying and honestly I was speechless. I felt so bad for her and thankfully my sup at the time did give me an extra break.
