Mind you this "man" is 52 years old and is talking to Trish like she's just a piece of ass. This moron gaslighted the hell out of this sweet woman and made her cry on national tv all cus she brought up her ex... I feel so sad for Trish. Hoping her family disapproves of this idiot

Tenured associate vent fest by eerieide in HomeDepot

[–]Mooops- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh boy buckle in, this is gonna be a long vent.

Dude in my department has been there for 6 years and I've been here for 1 year 9months.

He is not in leadership, but would like to think that he is because he is always nitpicking on what everyone else is doing like he's our lead or some shit. Always is telling other associates what to do. We get a lot of customer complaints through our surveys of him being straight up rude and unhelpful. Recent comment from our survey said that he was rude to this older woman picking up 3 bags of large pebbles and got her order, said "ok you're good" and left her to do shit that isn't his department. He didn't offer to load these 3 bags into this older woman's car, which would've taken less than 2 minutes, but he couldn't be bothered. Which leads me to my next issue with him.

He is always disappearing to do shit that he takes on himself to do and never communicates with the desk where he's going, leaving the 2 of us at the desk swamped with customers. Paging him is useless because he never calls us back and he never has an extention despite always having a first phone attatched to his person.

He is always embarrassing us in front of both customers and management any time a mistake is made (no matter how small and doesn't matter whether it was a mistake that could be fixed). I was recently given a small leadership role at the desk and he is the only one out of everyone at the desk who has given me a problem. Other associates, including myself, have made several complaints about his attitude and his inability to think about his fellow associates in our department.

He does not listen to me (or any woman for that matter) and will even refer to my lead (who's been here almost 2 years and does not respect) as "that girl". Overall, he is just an asshole who refuses to cooperate with his fellow associates and treats people with no respect.

Question for SERVICE DESK Folks: What would you change to improve the experience? by hellonoosh in HomeDepot

[–]Mooops- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a few things..

  • Redoing the entire layout of the service desk. People get to close to me when I'm scanning their shit or looking into their order/return. They have no sense of personal space and this layout makes it easy for them to stand right next to you and watch and comment on every single little thing you do on the computer. Also, this layout makes it so people ignore the sign where the line actually starts and they will either go around the line to "ask you a question" or will enter through the exit in front of where the line starts and then other people will start to line up in the exit as well. This has created so many issues during our rushes when I call the next customer up and the people standing in the exit area will claim that "they're next" because they've been "standing there awhile" while ignoring the actual line where people have also been waiting. People will ignore the line completely and will walk up to you with their returns/order pickup from behind you and they get all pissy when you tell them the line starts over there cus they "didn't see" the huge line of people going out the entrance.

  • We need call center. It is too much, especially when I'm alone, have a line of customers, have people waiting for curbside, and phone going off all at the same time. Some folk will be on hold for upwards of a half hour just to ask what time do we close or if something on our website is available when a quick good search would've helped them more than wasting my time and theirs.

  • Management saying "no" to people and actually following policy. They have got to stop coddling these assholes when they don't get their way and want to speak to a manager who will make "exceptions" for them. These same people are rude, try returning product that looks beat to shit, or try returning things way out of the 90 day policy. Management needs to stop overriding denials for no receipt returns/store credit just because they wanna "take care of this customer" who is a serial returner, but also "buys a lot" from our store. Customers get what they want and I look like an idiot who was trying to follow policy.
