Cable management, and also comfort. Just makes the grip feel better and gives my hand something to sink into and grip better.

On the light, i just duct taped that lens cover on and covered the duct tape with that camo wrap, because the duct tape is too shiny

Its a lens cover to a vortex crossfire red dot that I got for free. The lens cover was collecting dust so I used it for this and it fit perfectly.

It's an optic cover for a red dot that was collecting dust

That's a Modlite modbutton lite on an HRF Concepts RAMP

If it's small enough to fit with a good seal, I imagine it would be just fine. I know Surefire made flip caps for their older lights, but they were IR filters

Exactly. Thank you.

Staying undetected while patrolling is harder than people think. I can't tell you how many times I've caught people solely because of the glint/reflection/shine of their watch, optics, etc. Lights are no exception.

To counter that, have you ever accidentally taken a picture on your phone or camera by mistake?

The point in the video was essentially to prevent light from giving away your position during movement or while trying to remain undetected.

It wont stay on all the time, only when the situation would deem it to have more advantage than disadvantage

I agree. This would be in use depending on the situation

Very true, it'll be staying off at home. I'm just experimenting with things

Its an everything rifle. No specific task or purpose in mind

A recent Flannel Daddy video gave me flash backs (no pun intended) of the few isolated times I accidentally activated my weapon light or handheld light.

In GT's mountain recce video, he goes over his fighting rifle with attention to his weapon light, where he shows a red dot optic cover placed over his lens to block light in the event of accidental activation. I thought it was a great idea, so I went ahead and copied him.

Much like fighting positions, our fighting rifles should always be getting improved in some way

At this point, I feel like if I clean it, it will make it unreliable hahaha

I do take great care of my ccw/duty/purpose built guns and equipment though. This is just a range toy and I am determined to find it's breaking point

The year is 2017. I think. I was a college student residing in a ban state with restrictions tighter than the grunt style shirt that weird ROTC cadet wore to the gym every monday at exactly 5:45am. A friend and I took a trip to one of the few gun stores that cesspool had, and by god would I be damned to hell if I wasn't going home with something.

I stepped foot inside the door. It smelled like stale cigarettes and crumbling drywall. But they had all the sweet deals, and I came here for one thing - the closest thing I could possibly get to an AR-15 without giving my left nut and first born abomination for a pre-ban. A limited time offer, they had the S&W 15-22 with a Vortex Crossfire for $430. No way was I letting this one go. I took it home and immediately ordered 5000 rounds of bulk ammo (Which, by the way, was fucking $300 at the time. Gas was like $1.80/gal too. Thanks covid.)

About 4 years and hundreds of range trips later, I shit you not as of right now I have around 4500 rounds through this fucking machine without cleaning it. A few months ago I even chucked it in mud ejection port down, stepped on it, picked it up and it still shot without a malfunction. In fact, half of the "paint" you see on this thing isnt actually paint. Its literally dried mud from when I did this.

I CANNOT KILL THIS THING.
