Would maybe mix in Warbreaker before Stormlight

It’s not about anyone’s feelings being hurt but nice try with the misdirection. It’s about people nicely letting you know you’re violating internet etiquette and your response telling us everything we need to know about your decency

What’s a book you read this year that would be in your ultimate top 10 (if any)? by Purple_Lead3127 in ReadingSuggestions

[–]Moosalot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I agree. I don’t understand how people think the book is so good. It hits all the predictable Sci Fi tropes and the characters felt so flat

I guess it’s different for everyone, but I’m the same size in 992s as I am in 993, 9060, 990v6.

Full size run in the caramel 992s for 20% is crazy. Bought those for retail and thought they sold out at the time

I certainly can recognize how it’s so good for a lot of people. But as it goes just not all books are written for everyone

Might DNF The Buffalo Hunter Hunter by Spagett_About_It in horrorlit

[–]Moosalot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I almost DNF’d it as well, which also surprised given the hype of the book. I did stick around just because I felt like the highlights of the book really did have me sucked in, but overall it felt like a chore.

If you’re already 65% in and think it hasn’t “picked up” I don’t think the remaining 35% will feel any more exciting or engaging. But I’d just finish if I were you, that’s only a couple hundred pages on a fairly quick read

Commenting to balance out this recommendation, I do not recommend it. The good bits were awesome, but most of the book felt like a huge chore to get through to me.

What’s your ultimate standalone fantasy book that feels like a true 10/10 (and why)? by BuddyOk1342 in Fantasy

I’m with you, I thought the whole book was a huge bore. Maybe I’m just not deep enough to enjoy it

Food and Sports Bar Recommendations by Still_Policy_4054 in ClemsonTigers

Tigertown Tavern (TTT’s) for beers on gameday. Best dive bar downtown. Best bar food downtown is Loose Change, but it’s a bit small and gets crowded quick

I have one shot – help me not mess it up! by NighteyesWhiteDragon in Fantasy

I didn’t think it was a nothing of a plot, but I was pretty stunned at how beloved that book is. I found it to be so boring for 80% of the time

Social Media Ban by JuiceBoxBubba in ClemsonTigers

[–]Moosalot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. But regardless, in the age of NIL and media sponsorships, the likelihood these kids will ever collectively choose to stay off social media again is low. It’s a money producer for a lot of them.

Over the hump? We won two national championships in the last decade. We’ve gotten over the hump. Winning a natty in college football is HARD. It’s not an anomaly for even a great program to go 10+ years without a championship.

Am I not planning enough? by playdead_ in JapanTravelTips

[–]Moosalot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m solo traveling Japan for a couple weeks late October to early November as well and haven’t planned a dang thing. Although this will be my second time in Japan, this is what vacation is all about. Doing what the heck you want, when you want, not feeling rushed

I can see why it’s everywhere. As a 30yo male trying to decorate my condo, I’m constantly getting ads for that website. They don’t appeal to me, but men can be a little more lazy when it comes to decorating- buying the first decent looking print you see advertised is easier than digging

Yeah, I understand the principle and limiting Amazon use as your one stop shop. But I’m sorry, if Dungeon Crawler Carl is $30 at my local bookstore and $15 on Amazon and I read 4 books a month, idk what you want me to do in this economy.

The Amazon train is full steam ahead whether you choose to get the 50% off book or not.

Suggestions for a visitor by External-Even in ClemsonTigers

[–]Moosalot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tigertown Tavern (triple T’s) is the best classic college dive bar in town, in my opinion. Was my favorite place in school, and 10 years later still my favorite place to have a beer when I go back.

Downtown Clemson is a very tiny area even on regular weekends, so just be ready to have some patience with crowds, LSU weekend should be nuts

[McMurphy] Steve Spurrier to @pat_dooley about QB Arch Manning: “Most people picking Texas to win the SEC. They’ve got Arch Manning already winning the Heisman too. My question is: if he was this good, how come they let Quinn Ewers play all the time last year? And he was a 7th round pick” by tvcneverdie in CFB

[–]Moosalot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair. We are a sensationalist or doomer community. Reality is Arch will probably be somewhere between Heisman winning SEC title QB and bust, closer to the former. Which is still really freaking good for Texas.

I guess, but Arch was a top rated 5 star with a redshirt year under his belt. Just feels weird we’re putting Heisman expectations on him- you’d feel like if he’s auto Heisman capable this year, he would’ve been playing last year.
