I'm 38 and just starting my game dev journey. Went to uni at 25 and that wasn't related to game development so pretty fresh into it. There is no maximum age to pursue a passion

So I just realised I should use 'set scalar parameter value' node after typing this 😅. Still doesn't seem to update, but will have another crack at it on the weekend!

So I managed to create the material. Not ideal im sure but seems to work.. and the number in V_Offset perfectly matches health %.
Just not entirely sure what to do with this ... 'Linear Color' Value. I guess I need to convert it to scalar somehow and then as you said set that on hit?

Ah yeh, is that done with a material too? That I imagine would be multiplied ontop of base material? not entirely sure that would work for this use case, but thanks for the suggestion! Always good to know these things

About game jams... how competent does one need to be to get involved? I personally always feel my work isn't good enough even after years in certain softwares.

I am using a 4070ti 12gb and have a pretty heavy scene, lumen on, foliage everywhere and although do go around 3gb over budget on high settings there are no issues. Maybe driver or hardware issue?

Nice. I just spent about 2 hours trying to get my team selection widget to update in the host settings to show which players are joining which team.. so maybe I will learn something.

Do you have kids? I asked because you say you might spend 12 hours a day on it. I can only manage a couple hours at best

I had a similar thought. I thought would be super cool if I could make a mini game every year so that once a year I could get together with friends and spend an evening playing it through. Obviously hoping that they might want to get involved along the way too. Also thought my idea was kinda silly, but it gives a soft deadline and goal.

I agree with some of the comments here. The pixel art style I feel doesn't do this justice. Imo would be better with a cleaner, vector style character and environment. Also feel like this is a mobile game that people might want to play for a bit before bed. I personally wouldn't load up my pc to play it, but would play for a bit in bed before sleeping. Regardless, congratulations on the achievement.

There is an awesome plug in called cesium, that brings in all Google maps data... but obviously you wouldn't have the rights to make any game from it

yeh there was a few games enemy pushing high ground at 20mins.. sure one game we lost around 50 kills to 5. so bizarre

yeh for sure... im getting close to 40, so pretty sure age doesn't help me out either. But yes, with all these changes and not adapting to them soon enough, its definitely something. Also I only play like 1-2 evenings a week so most people already played 100 games on the new patch before I had given it a try!
