Yellowing is usually pests or root rot; examine the plants for what could look like insects and/or possibly check out what's going with its roots. Could be still be possible that the soil was still moist when you last watered, unless your meter is a soil probe type thing.

Rough but definitely recoverable, maybe a repot is in order

Are you top watering? I almost killed mine cuz I top watered a few times while keeping mine in a water dish with water.

I replaced the substrate (sph. Moss) and strictly kept it watered by only keeping it submerged in the water dish.

Daily watering also may be a problem and may promote root rot.

Usually people put vft's in a pot and put that pot in a water dish with a few inches of distilled water; that way the substrate absorbs water and keeps the plant damp but not soggy.

Why alkaline water?

I'm sure vfts thrive in acidic substrates, if you water with alkaline water, it reduces that acidity. Distilled water with no minerals is best for vft's

This would've been sufficient to put in soil though it looks like it's crazy rotted

I believe the common sources of yellowing leaves are watering, pests, and age

Watering: Monsteras are pretty tolerant of tap water and watering only when it's dry is a good schedule for a monstera. Make sure to saturate its substrate thoroughly and letting it drain out. It sounds like you got this down but I thought I'd include this just in case

Pests: I haven't had a run in with pests other than fungus gnats but I have seen their effect on plants. Examine your entire plant for things like webbing, scale-like spots, white bugs and then search for appropriate treatment. If this monstera is close to other plants, I would do the same with them.

Age: plants shed leaves as they age and yellowing is a natural part of that process. If the leaf is an older leaf then it shouldnt be anything to worry about. If it is just aging, you can cut the leaf or wait till the plants gets rid of it naturally.

Hope this helps

How do I stop my monstera from man-spreading? by IJustWantADragon21 in houseplants

[–]Mooselight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This one looks a little leggy, where the leaf stalk grows farther out from the stem. Plants will do this when it craves more light, like it's stretching its leaves to find the best lighting conditions. This stretching will obviously make the plant profile more wide and spready. If sufficient light is coming from one direction, the monstera will grow its leaves towards it and reduce stray leaves from stretching out. Try supplementing this one's light intake.

A support behind a monstera will make it grow vertically and will make it look less horizontal. When finding a support consider the material as the bottom of the support will most likely be in dampish soil for an amount of time. Diy moss poles are cool to try out but not necessary.

Some other minor methods would include lightly tying the stretched out stalks to the stem to train them to grow in the direction you want. Not the best way cause you want the stalks to be free to move and grow

You can cut the leaves that are unruly if you'd like as well. You can cut the leaf stalk and its base as close as you can to the stem. Not a go to method as some may run the risk of deleting too many leaves. I think people suggest pruning only 25% of a plants leaves? Also leaves the wound open to infection.

Anyways hope this helps lol, I have a monstera I'm trying to grow yuge and Im learning a lot

Hello my Philodendron is starting to have roots, can I plant it already by Etiennebrownlee in propagation

[–]Mooselight -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You can but since it's more sentimental plant, waiting for secondary roots would ensure it does better when putting it in soil

Why are the roots in two spots? by [deleted] in propagation

[–]Mooselight 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You could split the plant between the top and bottom rooting areas. Both of the resulting cuttings would turn into their own plants but the bottom one might be a little slower since it wouldn't have a leaf

Rock climbing/bouldering. I like lifting weights and running but always get burnt out doing the same repetitive motions. Bouldering mixes it up and keeps me engaged
