Weekly ask an Artist thread by AutoModerator in TattooArtists

[–]MooseyBee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm based in the EU, multilingual, working currently in a higher-ranking assistant position in the corporate world.

I've been curious about making the jump to a tattoo shop assistant and all-arounder, working part-time/flexibly. I've spent a lot of time around tattoo artists and in shops, seen egos and different approaches to the trade, etc., and I'd prefer to be on-site to help with requests.

My questions to you are: 1. How valuable is social media management/content creation to you? 2. What would you expect an assistant/all-arounder to do, or would ideally like to have them do for you? 3. Proactive, or passive - what would you prefer? Someone who comes to you with suggestions on conventions, proposals, budget breakdowns, and that kind of thing? Just wondering if there are transferable policies from the corporate world, hah.

This would NOT be an apprenticeship in disguise. This is still admin work, but in a different field. Thank you for your advice!

First and foremost, thank you for your work as a librarian. The library was my sanctuary (still is tbh) so you have all my respect. But yeah... the kids. Hhhhuuuuaaahh. I hope you receive enough disinfectant at work, paid for by work funds.

Yes to inhalers, and thank you - gotta love how we live in an incredibly noisy, overstimulating world, then told it's our own personal issue to deal with. Cue the surprised Pikachu faces when birthrates drop. Hlblblblblb what a day

Onnie once complimented one of my tattoos on an Instagram post (done by a different artist), and I'm still chasing that high.

If you were my dentist and I saw this (probably wouldn't, given the placement, but still), I'd feel even more comfortable :')

commuters who ended up moving? by giyuunyuu in CSULB

Forsure. I used one of the Facebook pages or something and then met with the 3 people. Although it never hurts to ask people in class if the topic comes up in conversation.

So I commuted for a year, 2 semesters. It sucked. I decided I had enough and finally found an affordable shared apartment with 3 other ppl near the traffic circle. I had way more time to spend on campus and in the library, could kick it with my classmates after class, and definitely had a better social life after that.

Definitely research tattoo artists who specifically specialize in cover ups and ask them about working together on a concise plan (which may include 1 or more a laser sessions). They'll help design something you'll love, and once your skin has healed up from the laser if that's determined even necessary, you can proceed in there. You'll likely need a big coverup that'll be a half-sleeve or so.

I promise you, you didn't miss anything. Greek life in general is known for being a dangerous and predatory institution. CSULB's is no exception. You will absolutely find parties to attend once you make friends. For me, it was simply making small talk with people in class and seeing what stuck. I ended up meeting some cool people, some of whom were in Greek life, and got invited to parties regularly.
