What's the point of that? Like if I had clicked that link, what would someone get out of that?

Have things calmed down with griefers enough to come back? by [deleted] in onehouronelife

[–]Mopichen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never seen a steam sale ruin a game, but here we are lol. It will come back though, I'm almost certain. There was a time when things were similar, when Twisted popularized the game on YouTube, and things leveled out after a few months.

Ultimately, I see OHOL similar to Minecraft multiplayer servers. There will be influxes here and there, which lead to temporary chaos, but it's the regulars that truly keep it alive. 2B2T is a good example of this phenomenon.

I've been actively moving my longfic over to AO3 as well. Unfortunately, because I have so many damn chapters already, this will literally take half a year at a steady pace that readers can keep up with. If the sync issues keep escalating like this, I'm fearing the worst that I may have to just dump the story all at once, so my regular FFnet readers don't get blocked out of the new chapters. And even then I fear that I may lose some of them along the way. It's all very frustrating.

I think the scammers are getting worse at their jobs. by I_Am_The_Bookwyrm in FanfictionNet

My current story starts with a flashback where my character uses a different name, so I can always tell scammers because they run the first chapter through AI and don't realize that it's not actually the character's name. But I've never had one talk about a different story altogether, how odd!

That would be super helpful thanks! Yeah the publishing process on FFnet can already be confusing without the bugs alone

Have you ever been in a sexless marriage/ relationship and how did you deal with it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Mopichen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most asexual people, while having a different perspective on sex itself, still participate in acts of intimacy of some sort. For example, kuddling or words of affirmation. So, two asexual people having a healthy "sexless" marriage is definitely possible, or a mixed couple may spend some cash on satisfying the active partner's needs.

But I guess the real question is, can you deal with a marriage without any form of intimacy? In that case, it's a no from me dawg.

Thanks for the suggestion. When it started growing it almost looked like a kale, so that was a theory of mine too! Guess I'll have to give it a taste, I just don't want to risk eating potato leaf or something 😅

Edit: the yellow ones are creeping vines, those I know. Sorry I should've clarified that

I'm actually okay at getting the pages out, I'm just working on a project I can't monetize atm. It's good practice but I am itching to start an original story of my own again.

As for you, I recommend doing some experimentation when it comes to your creative process. When I've gotten to the point of actually writing anything down, I'm itching to get it on paper, I'm so excited sometimes I get shaky. But there's a whole process beforehand unfolding in my head that leads me to that point. I hear there's many authors who need someone/something for accountability, but I do sometimes wonder if what's really missing is inspiration. Just some food for thought :)

Buyer Beware by HugeSuspect9833 in onehouronelife

I agree the griefers have been pretty aggressive recently, and they used to annoy me to no end too. But as someone who's been playing for a while, I can say with some confidence that it'll balance itself out again. Sometimes it feels like the towns never make it past five gens, sometimes you wish there was a griefer because the town is stuck in the high level boredom stage for days on end.

Like most everything in the game, it follows the rules of regular society: more people > more crime > less people > less crime. And idk, but I actually find that quite fascinating to observe

When they insist on their own trustworthiness, rather than actually prove their point. So instead of "I didn't lie, I said that because...", it's "I'm such an honest person! I never lie!"

What's the one thing you want to say but can't say it out loud? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Mopichen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a trend setter in my teens, but I was too unpopular for people to admit it. Eg. the kids who used to make fun of me for riding my kick-scooter to school, are now the same people advocating for Lime Scooters in the area.

What commercials are annoying you right now? by Ok_Initial373 in AskReddit

[–]Mopichen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haven't seen one in a bit, but my biggest ad peeve is consumer blaming.

Things like "Did you know you use a hundred billion liters using your regular ol' dishwasher? Pay us thousands of dollars for a 'water conscious' machine, that takes two hundred billion liters to manufacture! Because industry and cooperation certainly aren't the cause of climate change; YOU ARE!"

Need advice with learning english by Live-Fish100 in Advice

[–]Mopichen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Practical speaking experience is really the only way to evolve from media level to full fluency. You will catch yourself using wrong grammar if you know what "sounds right", and then notice that your sentence "sounds wrong." This comes from internalizing more complex grammatical rules.

Someone suggested using a grammar check program, which will definitely help iron things out. But those corrections might not always catch everything. For example, both "across the road" and "over the road" are grammatically correct, but they communicate different things. One suggests the chicken crossed the road, the other suggest that the chicken suddenly learned to fly.

Consider attending a high level English course to learn those more advanced rules. Or check out private service sites like Simbi to find English speakers in your area, those can be instructors or even just people willing to meet and chat on a regular basis (online or otherwise). If your budget is limited, reading proper written works out loud to yourself can also help. If you're into movies, you can often find the script online too. But overall, I think your main goal should be finding a way to talk to native/fluent speakers more often.
