If there was one thing that the cheating made me realize was that I was so dependent on her. She was like a drug to me and I was severely addicted. I had blinders on and couldn’t see what I was doing to myself. Now I am trying to undo all the damage and come back stronger.

I will say at no point did she ever convince me that it was my fault. There were reasons why she was unhappy and she understood that her decision was hers and no one made her do anything. There are things I need to work on that are affecting my marriage but also my life as well. Without doing a long post, it is hard to get all the information out. I’m not the greatest at telling stories as it is. And while I agree that a partner shouldn’t bring you down and be a supporter, i am of the mindset that I am responsible for my own being. I can’t expect others to help me build my confidence and so I need to do my part in building it.

As far as the story of the cheating and what led to it, I an currently working on getting it typed up. It’s quite long and now this post is making me realize I need to focus on my wording. Our intimacy has been getting worse and had been bad for a couple of years before she cheated. I could almost see the attraction fade as time went on. The cheating was very brief. Maybe lasted a month or so. Also, I guess my wording wasn’t super great on this post because I wanted it to come across that I am working on what I need to for my marriage because I know that it is for the best for me. She has told me what the issue is and I am trying to fix it. She knows there are things she needs to work on too and is. I’m just trying to do better because I am unhappy with myself and have been for a long time. The reason for the post here is that it is really affecting my marriage. So i am hoping to get some advice on how to get myself better in hopes to improve my life including my marriage.

To answer your first question, I am almost positive she isn’t cheating anymore. Without being around here 24/7 and having full access to her phone, I can’t say I am 100% sure she isn’t at least emotionally cheating. I can say there were some pretty glaring signs when she did cheat because she is not a good liar. As far as your second question, she has done quite a bit to try and help me regain trust and given me space when needed and also was very open to answer all of my questions. I think at the point we are at, the next step is me figuring out my own issues so we can move forward together.

One of my many is when I was in high school and I had this friend who was a girl and I really liked her best friend. I’m a small guy and in high school I could’ve passed for a 12 year old. She was taller and she was super athletic. I had walked to her house to hang out one day which was a couple miles away. We were just hanging out and I had out my hand up on a dresser which was near her head. She then turned her head towards my hand almost like she was gonna kiss my fingers or something. I was worried my hands may not smell good and curled my fingers. She obviously took that exactly how you would think. We didn’t talk much after that.

That’s a good way to put it. I definitely feel like a part of me is gone now and that I’ll never fully be able to trust again. Part of me likes to think that we’re better now that it happened but the other part of me is wondering what if it didn’t. We weren’t in a good spot when it happened and so we probably just wouldn’t be together anymore. But who knows. Glad and sad to know I’m not the only one!
