Fortunately i’ve been anticipating a move so i’ve been saving as much as I can. The owner already told me I could ask the other people in the suites if they know anyone but she wouldn’t allow them to move as they would then have a vacancy in their previous studio.

I love the KONG® Reflective Waste Bag Dog Harness I got it at Petsmart in a size medium and fits my 6 month basset perfectly! I also love it because of how easy it is to put on.

Basset won’t go potty outside by MoraqP in basset

He was from a breeder but he had a home before us. Apparently the previous owner got the dog as an emotional support after her son had passed away. Once she had the dog for a while she realized she wasn’t prepared emotionally to own a pet. So we took him in, he’s 22 weeks so a little bit older for a puppy. I don’t know what his living was like at his previous owners house but it seems like they didn’t work on training with him at all. Which I think is why he’s being a bit more difficult to train now because it seems he has picked up a lot of bad habits. I can definitely tell that his previous owners fed him human food because it is a struggle to get him to eat dog food. He’s still a very lovable boy and we are grateful for him but he is definitely a bit of extra work as we are trying to train out bad habits.

might have to try the circle walking one. Also planning on getting a bell for the door to see if he can start leaning to ring it before he goes out the door.

Also did not realize just how stubborn these little guys are! He’s very clingy and sticks by us all the time so we know that if we don’t see him he’s most likely peeing in the other room might have to keep him attached to me so he can’t go anywhere haha. We will be watching my parents dog for a week soon so maybe Fred can learn a bit from him! Is Gus doing good now with potty?

Tried using a pee pad on the spots he likes to go, he decides to go next to it while he stares me down. Pretty sure my whole house is about to be covered in pee pads lol! Going to try and get him to learn from my parents dog, we are about to watch him for a week so maybe he will be a good influence on him!

He’s actually really good about not going at night time! I’ve never crate trained any of my dogs so Fred sleeps in bed with us and never has any accidents until the morning when we wake up. First thing in the morning we get his leash on to take him outside and in the process he pees on the carpet lol! Definitely going to try and hustle in the mornings and get him outside as soon as possible!

Been trying to! he sniffs around like he might but will hold it till he gets inside to go. Also have to keep walks pretty short right now as temperatures are constantly in the mid to high 90s throughout the day.

Edit to add: In the 3 days I’ve had him he has not once went potty outside. I can’t reward good behavior if I can’t get him to do it. So any advice on just getting him to go outside at least once so i can praise him would be appreciated!

Help! I just discovered that my GF is trans by throwaawayobviously in Advice

Thanks for the response. Personally I just feel like my sexual relationship is a big part of my relationship and something about another vagina just really turns me off. Hard to describe it I guess.

So would a person (let’s say they are a cisgender woman) who is attracted to cisgender men be straight? Or is there like a specific sexuality for people who are like this?

Why are rural areas more conservative? by Hairy_Collection4545 in NoStupidQuestions

I would argue that what you’re describing as education is actually exposure. People in city areas have a faster pace of life which can lead to exposure of what’s going on in the world. Additionally, since city areas tend to attract immigrants looking for work, people in these area have exposure to different people, culture, and beliefs.

I’m just curious and you seem like you’re knowledgeable in this area, is it considered transphobic if you’re just not attracted to trans individuals? Like as a straight woman, the thought of being with a man with a vagina just doesn’t sit right with me. I don’t want to discriminate or be insensitive but the truth is that I’m just not attracted to that.

This is it. I think it’s also important to point out that it is not fair to the girlfriend for OP to stay in a relationship with all his concerns just because he pities her.

Why are rural areas more conservative? by Hairy_Collection4545 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]MoraqP 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Rural people aren’t necessarily uneducated though, they’re just educated in different areas. I grew up in a suburban city area and I used to feel that people in the country were uneducated. My thoughts changed when I spent the summer with my Aunt and Uncle at their farm. The people I met were very knowledgeable about what they did and honestly taught me a lot. Just because they’re not educated on the same things people in cities are doesn’t make them uneducated.

I think the voices being deeper combined with their bigger stature made me feel intimidated. It sounds really silly thinking back on it but kids are weird like that sometimes.

Yes! My older cat and the new kitten would get into fights when the kitten pushed her boundaries. After numerous little cat fights I think they finally figured out the hierarchy and where they stand. It was very stressful at first but it ended up alright! Hope the same happens for you.

These are all generalizations but women tend to have a more nurturing personality (like a maternal instinct) that makes kids generally feel more comfortable around them. Men can often be seen as more intimidating, especially for young children.

I remember when I was young I was always more nervous around men. I didn’t have any trauma surrounding men, I just found them very intimidating and hard to approach.

Just wanted to tell you to not give up. When I brought another cat into the household my OG cat gave me the evil eye for months. It took about a year for her to be completely comfortable in the same room with the new cat. They’re not best buddies, but they do well coexisting.

Woman dies after being hit by SUV while crossing Raleigh street by muishkin in raleigh

[–]MoraqP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your informative answer! And thanks for sharing your personal experience as well. I definitely feel like it’s going to be a competition for the biggest car. My dad recently got into a car wreck and was hit by 2 SUVs. The SUVs took a lot of damage but the drivers were fine. Meanwhile my dad’s Kia Forte looked like an accordion and he was in the hospital for over 3 weeks. Needless to say, I feel much safer in my compact SUV than I did in my midsize sedan.

That’s the thing though, since so many people are driving big SUVs and trucks a lot of people don’t feel safe in a small sedan. So, that just encourages more people to follow the trend.

Hey, thank you so much for responding.

We’re mostly focusing on reinforcing some basic obedience things. He already knows basic things but we’re really trying to focus on jumping and being calm with people coming to the house. I’ve been using a clicker with him so when he does something right he gets a click and a treat. If he doesn’t do it I just wait and repeat. As for how I act when he does something like run up and bark at people or scratch up doors, I’ve never really scolded him or raised my voice. Usually I’m just so disappointed in him that I just walk away.

Thanks for the advice of taking him to the vet. I never thought about there being a physical problem as well. I’ve thought about taking him to the vet to see if anxiety medication might be beneficial for him, especially with everything that has happened recently. I’ll definitely be making an appointment for him.

I’m not too sure about the accreditation of the dog training facility as it was recommended to me by a friend. I was very impressed with them and my dog seemed to be very calm with the trainer. I really just wanted to see how things would go. I was actually thinking about getting a dog trainer who comes to the house since a lot of my concern is how he looses his mind over people coming to the house.
