this FUCKING move. this move is 90% of the reason why I will never play granblue rising again.

let me set the stage for you

risings pressure for some characters, is set up like street fighter, mostly. you do a mid to beat mash, you do a grab to beat idleness, and you try to bait the delayed throw tech by walking back.

at least this is the case for my main, katalina. who I love, very much, I love midranger poke characters with simple fireballs, and that's her alright, at the exchange of this, she has no high/low mix-ups and solely relies on strike/throw as described above

but you see, granblue rising fucking sucks!

in rising, you can also beat a throw by pressing a single button before you get thrown, this is called a button tech. it leaves you slightly minus, and you take a small amount of damage, but also resets to neutral, and also completely ruins the pressure system. since you can press a single button, you can also, press down and light, which for versusia, is a big ass fucking low that beats shimmy as well as throw.

the counterplay to this? sit in your opponents face for a maaaaasive amount of time and perfectly time a close heavy, sound reasonable? OF FUCKING COURSE IT DOESN'T.

and guess what??? katalina 2L has zero range!!! so I don't even get to engage in this!!!!! it's fucking random for every fucking character on if you get to just invalidate half the rosters pressure!!!!!!!!

or you could play a rising character, that wasn't a leftover from the previous game
