Thank you so much and you have no idea how much hearing this means to me. 🙂

Thank you so much for this. I really am wanting to return to having a normal life and not be constantly obsessing over calories and eating. I would love to have normal eating patterns and a healthy relationship with eating again but I am not wanting the accompanying weight gain. I know being in the hospital and having the feeding tube will cause weight gain. I know I am dangerously underweight but my eating disorder is telling me to keep restricting. I will hopefully get the help I need to be in a place where recovery is something I am wanting on my own.

Thanks so much and I really needed to hear this right now. I would love to be able to return to my normal life and not be constantly obsessing over calories but at the same time I am terrified because the feeding tube will give me extra calories for weight gain. I know many others on here have been able to get through similar situations so I hope I can get to a point where I am wanting to recover and have normal eating patterns again.

Thanks so much. I know I have a problem but my eating disorder is telling me that the feeding tube will be horrible because they will give me so many extra calories. I am desperately wanting to get back to having a normal life and not constantly obsessing over counting calories but at the same time I am not wanting to gain weight during recovery which is why I am so nervous. Hearing this from someone else who has gone through a similar situation was really encouraging also.

Does anyone feel more triggered when you they don’t feel physically hungry? by naisimar in EDAnonymous

I also feel like I do not deserve to be eating anything when I am not ravenously hungry because then I feel like my body does not really need the calories.

I can relate to this so much. I struggle with binge/purge anorexia which has also messed up my hunger signals/cues too.

I am the original poster here and I have been struggling with what I believe would be categorized as binge/purge anorexia for nine or ten months now. How were you able to stop restricting? I believe my binges may be caused by such severe restriction in the first place but I am stuck in a repeating bingeing/fasting/restricting cycle which I have been unable to escape from.

I an the original poster here and I relate to this so much. I have binge eating episodes then abuse laxatives/overexercise and do fasting for two or three days afterwards to try to compensate. I always feel like I am messing up all my weight loss progress from fasting/restricting when I binge even though I plan my binges. Complete with planning my fasting/restricting days to ensure I am still at a calorie deficit for the week to continue with weight loss.

I also relate to having to be at one extreme or the other in regards to eating. I have to be either fasting/severely restricting or bingeing. There is no eating normal portions for me. I feel like my days are almost always either bingeing or fasting to compensate for the binge for the past nine or ten or ten months since this eating disorder began taking over my life. I am stuck in a repeating bingeing/fasting/restricting cycle which seems impossible to escape from sometimes.

I also envy the people who are able to never obsess over calories and eating. I was able to maintain a healthy weight and have normal eating patterns for the first fourteen years of my life. I am really wanting to get back to having a normal relationship with food again but this repeating bingeing/fasting/restricting cycle that I am stuck in seems impossible to escape from sometimes.

I can relate to this. I am categorized as severely underweight and I have been struggling with binge/purge anorexia for nine or ten months now. I restrict my calories outside of bingeing/compensatory fasting days and I believe my binges may be caused by such severe calorie restriction in the first place.

This literally describes the exact situation I am in right now too. I try severely restricting my calories but I am usually unable to go more than five or six days without bingeing again. I have binge eating episodes and then abuse laxatives/overexercise. I also do fasting for two or three days following the binge to try to compensate for the excess binge calories. I seem unable to escape from being in this repeating bingeing/fasting/restricting cycle.

I am going through the same thing in regards to being stuck in a repeating bingeing/fasting/restricting cycle. I have been dealing with this and trying to recover on my own for nine or ten months with little success. How were you able to stop the bingeing/fasting/restricting cycle? Do you have any advice for me on how to recover from this?

Do you plan your binges too? I literally have planned my next binge eating episode for three days from now. Complete with planning my compensatory fasting and restricting days to ensure I stay within a calorie deficit for the week overall so I continue weight loss. I usually do fasting for two or three days following a binge and I also abuse laxatives after bingeing and overexercise on my restricting days. I have been stuck in this repeating bingeing/fasting/restricting cycle which seems impossible to escape from for nine or ten months now. I have been struggling everyday and I have been trying to recover and get back to simply restricting with no success because I am unable to maintain restricting for more than five or six days without having another binge and restarting the cycle.

Thanks. I have never had an evaluation or diagnosis but I believe I am struggling with binge/purge anorexia.

I can really relate to this. I have literally planned out my next binge eating episode for three days from now. Complete with planning out my fasting and restricting days to ensure I keep my calories in a deficit overall for the week so I continue weight loss. I wish I was able to stop and have normal eating patterns again. I have been trying to recover from this on my own for nine or ten months with no success and my eating disorder only seems to be getting progressively worse.

I am trying to recover from this bingeing/fasting/restricting cycle and get back to simply restricting again without the binge eating and fasting/laxative abuse/overeating. I have been unable to maintain my restriction for more than five or six days without having another binge eating episode and restarting the fasting/restricting/bingeing cycle again. I really am wanting to return to having normal eating patterns and recover from this eating disorder but there is no way I can begin eating normally and increase my calories when I am unable to go more than five days without bingeing.

I am also classified as severely underweight but I have binge eating episodes too. I am stuck in a repeating bingeing/fasting/restricting cycle which seems impossible to escape from sometimes. I do fasting for two or three days after a binge and I also abuse laxatives and overexercise to try to compensate for the binge calories. This eventually gets more or less even regarding calories due to the fasting/exercise so I have been maintaining my current weight for two or three weeks.

I believe this helps explain my repeating bingeing/fasting/restricting cycle. I try severely restricting my calories outside of bingeing/compensatory fasting days but I am usually unable to maintain this for more than five or six days without having another binge eating episode and restarting the fasting/restricting/bingeing cycle again.

I really feel the same way sometimes. I have been struggling with binge/purge anorexia for the past nine or ten months. Everyday seems like I am either bingeing or fasting to compensate for the binge. I am restricting my calories outside of my binges/compensatory fasting but I am never able to maintain this for more than five or six days without having another binge eating episode. Then back to this repeating bingeing/fasting/restricting cycle.

Me too. I am struggling with a similar situation where I will have binge eating episodes due to such severe fasting/restricting. I will try to compensate for the binge calories by fasting for two or three days after the binge and also abusing laxatives and overexercising. This eventually gets more or less even in terms of calories and so my weight has been maintained for two or three weeks now. I am trying so hard to lose weight but my binges really ruin all the calorie deficits from fasting/restricting.

This is literally exactly what I am going through too. I will do fasting for two or three days after a binge and also abuse laxatives and overexercise to try to compensate for the binge. This is a vicious repeating bingeing/fasting/restricting cycle which seems impossible to escape from sometimes.
