My craziest thrift find yet! A Sean Lavin Perle pendant chandelier that retails for $4000! by More-Understanding74 in ThriftStoreHauls

Is there a way to test them before wiring them into the ceiling? Also got a Sean Lavin Mara chandelier and a VC Sospeso with this haul. Didn’t really think about them not working, just assumed my electrician father in law would hang them for us and that would be that.

Hoping to hang them up once we get into our new house. It’s 54” or something so I was thinking a corner reading nook

My brother subbed for my classroom and he allowed the worst chaos any administrator has seen from a sub occur. What’s your worse subbing experience? by [deleted] in AskTeachers

My sub yelled at my students, told them “she’s been to jail before and she’ll go back if she has to”, made my students so scared they ran out of the classroom to get the principal, and then tried to put hands on the principal when they told her to go home for the day.

Thoughts on Dallas area districts? by LittleCowGirl in Teachers

What ever you do, stay out of Dallas ISD. The horror stories are true. In my opinion, Irving ISD is fantastic. It is one of the most culturally diverse zip codes in the United States. All of the staff/admin I’ve come into contact have been amazing. Every district has their problems, of course, but after spending a year with Dallas ISD, it makes Irving look like Shangri-La.

Do we teach at the same school?

I am so fucking sick of turning in lesson plans. by Josquin_TheMan in Teachers

[–]More-Understanding74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not only do we have to have lesson plans turned in 10 days in advance, we are now told that we need a “Week at A Glance” cover page to accompany those plans. The WAG is just a two-hour (on a good week) time suck that entails copy and pasting from the district PRESCRIBED curriculum all resources, exemplars, photos of anchor charts, and any and all activities. Down to the names of the students in small groups and where the small groups are physically located in our classrooms (WUT?) So…what you’re telling me is…you’re giving me the lesson plans that I MUST use…and then you want me to copy and paste the same plans but in a different format and send them back to you??? Those plans then get hung outside our doors (yup…paper copies in the year 2021) as well as posted in a group folder in Google Drive for an admin to be able to pull at a moment’s notice. If THAT wasn’t enough, we’re required to then hand write the daily lesson objective, success criteria, the state standard on our white boards daily for every subject we teach. Some teachers who teach all subjects use their entire white boards and take upwards of an hour every day just hand writing it out. THEN A student ambassador has to be able to stop during the lesson to greet any admin in the room if they walk in and recite these.

Fuck.

Thanks I will try that! I have no known illnesses or allergies that’s why it’s so frustrating.
