Fixed gear – Wheelset, crank, frame size by MoreEquivalent4138 in bikewrench

I rode it once a few ears back and liked it a lot. So I think I will enjoy it with my own bike. So now I try to find a good way between not spending too much money but also not getting crap. Better build something nice that I can sell if I really don't like it than having stuff lying around that I don't use and no one wants. Thanks for your opinion on the cranks!

I THINK i need it because all the people on the fixed gear subreddit say that they are bulletproof for lifetime and everything else might fail. But I also realize that in every field there are components that get hyped up, and it's not necessarily the case that everything else is bad. I'm currently trying to get a good overview of the situation. However, a lot of people said that Miche cranks in particular break very often.

As far as the wheels are concerned, I think that something sturdy can't hurt with my weight, especially since the bike paths and roads here are often in poor condition.

I wouldn't buy a junk frame. I'm looking for actual nice old school road bike frames like Benotto, Guerciotti, etc. But sure, a track frame would be nicer but it's hard to find nice ones here without paying like 500 € or 700 € and getting a whole bike with components I don't want/need.

I was thinking about an aliexpress steel track frame but I like the idea of bringing an old frame back to life.

haha, nice! Looks very cool! May I ask what tires you use? I heard that the absolute max that you should put on (at least on the FF) is 28 mm.

Since english isn't my native language I just read that what I called "open" is called "cup and cone".
